Both teams have achieved a lot to make it to this point and around this time last year, these two teams played last year. This game was extremely competitive and with a close score of 34-31 Katy came out victorious. Summer Creek is what I like to call the “wild card” the “black horse” team they might not be the best, but they will surprise time and time again especially by beating one of the top teams in Texas in round 2 The Shadow Creek Sharks. Katy doesn’t need any introduction they have always ruled Texas high school football and this year is no different remaining undefeated with no team being able to get close to beating them. Although, if any team could give Katy a run for their money I believe that Summer Creek could. Let’s break down key players on both teams.
Katy Tigers
#23 Seth Davis Seth Davis 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Katy | 2023 State TX RB Sr 5’7 175 lbs
Seth Davis Seth Davis 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Katy | 2023 State TX is one of the most notorious high school running backs in all of Texas. Seth is the most dependable and most valued player on The Katy Tigers roster. Once Seth has the ball he takes off and will be left untouched to the end zone. Seth even being on the smaller size is difficult to tackle showcasing how important the weight room is by powering through defenders. Seth’s stats currently this season in 10 games are 147 carries with 1,400 rushing yards and scored 21 touchdowns.
#7 Johnathan Hall Johnathan Hall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Katy | 2023 State TX DB Sr 6’2 205 lbs
Johnathan Hall Johnathan Hall 6'1" | 200 lbs | DB Katy | 2023 State TX has a lot of stand-out traits as a defensive free safety and strong safety. Johnathan is always aggressive, quick, and decisive, and has impeccable tackling form. Johnathan as the safety would move up and be up close and involved in the action. Johnathan has progressed so much from last season and this season he is a top college prospect having numerous college and university offers from; Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University University of Arizona, Baylor University, Duke University, University of Houston, and Purdue University to name a couple
Summer Creek Bulldogs
#1 Roriyon Richardson WR, FS Sr 6’1 190 lbs
Roriyon Richardson is an athletic wide receiver. Roriyon has a great build and good height making him an ideal target for passing too. Roriyon is great at getting open for passes whether it is short or long Roriyon will usually catch them. Roriyon is a great wide receiver and has averaged the most passing yards on Summer Creek’s roster. Roriyon has currently verbally committed to Texas Southern University for fall 2023.
#2 Cory Nichols Jr WR Sr 6’0
Cory Nichols Jr is a playmaker as a wide receiver and is capable as the quarterback. Cory was quick and fast able to easily get open for passes. Unlike last year Cory didn’t get a lot of chances to throw the ball, but that allowed him to shine as a receiver. Cory is an amazing athlete that currently has three college offers from New Mexico State University, Grambling State University, and Army West Point Football.
