For the last week of the regular season, I watched The Stratford Spartans vs The Jersey Village Falcons. Both teams are highly ranked in their division and held the same record so before playoffs, both teams needed to win to have good placement during playoffs. At the beginning of the game, Stratford had momentum overwhelming Jersey Village on both offense and defense. However, during the 3rd quarter, Jersey Village kicked it in the 2nd gear and started to catch up to Stratford. Although, in the 4th quarter Stratford just couldn’t be stopped yet again overwhelming Jersey Village resulting in the final score of the game being 49-28. Even though they lost Jersey Village has standouts on both offense and defense.
Jersey Village Offense
#3 Arbrie Carter WR, RB Sr 5’10 175 lbs
Arbrie Carter is the fastest player on Jersey Village’s roster. Arbrie lined up as either a wide receiver or running back and excelled at both positions. I will say Arbrie can utilize his speed best as a wide receiver. Every time Arbrie was the ball holder it was difficult for Stratford’s defense to deal with his speed. I hope to see Arbrie’s speed at the collegiate level before the end of his senior he should be a great college prospect. Arbrie’s stats as a running back was 4 carries with 53 rushing yards and wide receiver 11 receptions with 132 having 185 all-purpose yards.
#84 Quinton Jones Quinton Jones 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Jersey Village | 2024 State TX RB Jr 6’1 190 lbs
Quinton Jones Quinton Jones 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Jersey Village | 2024 State TX is a big and effective running back I like to call him a wrecking ball. I rarely see running backs as big as Quinton with his size and strength he can bulldoze through defenders and be difficult to bring down and tackle. Quinton tried his best to get a touchdown every time he got the ball, but Stratford’s defense was able to shut down their offense. Quinton’s stats were 30 carries for 150 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Jersey Village Defense
#5 Isaiah Skinner DB Sr 5’11 160 lbs
Isaiah Skinner is fast, aggressive, and intuitive. Isaiah had the best tackle of the game he saw the run coming from a mile away he moved up and as soon as the running back got the ball Isaiah went right for the ankles and took him out. Isaiah as a defensive back provided great coverage deflecting and neglecting a lot of passes throughout the game. Isaiah’s stats were 3 total tackles.
#24 Rashon Estes Rashon Estes 5'6" | 165 lbs | RB Jersey Village | 2023 State TX LB Sr 5’9 180 lbs
Rashon Estes Rashon Estes 5'6" | 165 lbs | RB Jersey Village | 2023 State TX had a great night against Stratford. Rashon as a linebacker was able to keep track of the football and attack the ball holder. Rashon had great tackling form wrapping up the waist and bringing them down. Rashon was also able to pick up a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Rashon’s stats were 6 total tackles and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
