Here are some standouts from the Class 5A title contest:
- Kadyn Proctor Kadyn Proctor 6'8" | 325 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA , ’23, OL/DL, Southeast Polk – The 6-foot-8, 345-pound behemoth paved the way for the Rams second championship in a row. Prep Redzone’s top senior in the state capped a magnificent high school career with another dominating performance in the trenches. The University of Iowa verbal commitment is a road grader at OT and a handful at DT. I think he could play the latter in college if he wanted.
- Ayden Price Ayden Price 6'0" | 185 lbs | WR Valley | 2023 IA , ’23, ATH, WDM Valley – Price reports scholarship offers from Air Force and Army. He’s impressive to watch because of his motor and instincts. He’s football quick, and can allude or run through would-be tacklers. He caught 9 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
- Abu Sama Abu Sama 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA , ’23, RB/DB, Southeast Polk – Wow. The Iowa State recruit saved his best for last. Sama rushed 24 times for 372 yards and six touchdowns. He ran for scores of 65, 73, 63, 9, 1 and 67 yards. He caught one pass for 18 yards.
- Connor Moberly Connor Moberly 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA , ’24, QB, Southeast Polk – It proved another efficient night for the Moberly, who completed 14 of 19 passes for 258 yards and a score. He chipped in with a 12-yard run. He shows a strong arm and can move. He could impress at spring/summer camps.
- Carson Robbins, ’24, WR, Southeast Polk – The talented junior caught six passes for 166 yards and a touchdown. Displays nice open-field speed and good hands.
- Zay Robinson, ’25, WR, WDM Valley – The super sophomore shows the potential of someone capable of making a name for himself on the recruiting trail. He flashed the last two weeks in Cedar Falls, including his 7-catch, 64-yard performance Friday. The ’25 prospect racked up 187 yards on five kick returns, highlighted by a 93-yard scoring play. He added a six-yard run.
- Braylon Jenkins, ’24, OL, WDM Valley – This kid stood out to me the last two weeks. He’s an agile, athletic big guy with good feet and hands. He displays good strength and drive. He has a chance.
- Ramez Naba, ’24, DL, WDM Valley – The Tiger coaches flipped Naba from the offensive to defensive lines this season, and it’s paid dividends. Naba absorbs blockers well and gets a push. He led the Tigers with 6.5 tackles (4 solo) and forced a fumble.
- Gabe Stiles, ’23, LB, Southeast Polk – Stiles tied Naba for game-high tackle honors with 6.5 (4 solo, 3.0 for loss). He delivered a pair of sacks and broke up a pass.
