Here’s a look at players who stood out for North Scott:
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Borchers makes running up the middle against the Lancers a chore. He delivered 20.0 solo tackles and 7.0 tackles for loss leading up to the semifinals. Borchers reports scholarship offers from Nebraska, Iowa State and others. With his size and skill set, he will make some college coaching staff happy.
Highlights
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Petersen has haunted opponents all season as evidenced by him arriving in the state semifinals with 11.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and 38 solo stops. Petersen has two brothers playing at Iowa State, and he shows the athleticism and motor to help on the next level as well.
Highlights
Kyle Gerardy
Kyle Gerardy
Gerardy has broken out on the gridiron this fall, completing over 70 percent of his passes and tossing 15 touchdowns against only three interceptions coming into the semifinals. He’s an excellent athlete who also stars on the basketball court. That helped him rush for 1,180 yards and 18 scores as well this season. He recently took a visit to Northern Iowa and more attention should be coming as his junior film circulates.
The North Dakota State commitment is a nice blend of size and athleticism. As good as he’s been in high school, there’s room for growth physically and technically. He’s heading to a program with a history of maximizing potential like he possesses.
Matt Cunningham
Matt Cunningham
Cunningham is an athletic big guy with smooth, quick feet. He does a nice job using his hands and staying low with a good base in pass pro. He’s strong in the running game, driving back defenders with power and good get-off.
