From the start the Bulldogs could not get out of their own way, with costly penalties and negative plays which limited the offenses ability to get started. The Bulldog defense was faced with the challenge of trying to stop the high powered Katy offense which caused many issues for them. The Tigers run game was once again dominant, leaving defenders frustrated. Katy senior running back Seth Davis Seth Davis 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Katy | 2023 State TX had himself a day rushing for over 200 yards as well as junior back Chase Johnsey who impacted the game with his runs and blocking. The Katy defense held strong, keeping the game in front of them for majority of the game and coming up strong in the redzone at times. Linebacker Connor Johnsey and safety Arian Parish Arian Parish 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Katy | 2023 State TX seemed to be in on every play and the defensive line applied continuous pressure all game. The Katy Tigers once again showed their dominance in a 35-7 win and look to continue to roll heading into the Quarterfinal round vs the C.E. King Panthers.
Standouts:
RB Seth Davis Seth Davis 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Katy | 2023 State TX (2023)
Davis ran for 224 yards on 26 carries with 2 touchdowns. We have become used to seeing Davis slash through defenses and not go down without a fight. Once again he showed excellent vision behind great blocking, and the explosive burst looks better than ever. He is a man on a mission once again.
WR Adam Jackson Jr. (2023)
Jackson Jr. found himself open on many occasions when the defense locked in on the run and the play action was there. Jackson showed strong hands on contested catches and hauled in 5 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.
FB/RB Chase Johnsey (2024)
Johnsey was the do it all guy once again. Setting up good runs with key lead blocking, catching the ball out the flat, and carrying the rock as well. Johnsey found himself in the endzone and was a big part of the running games success.
LB Connor Johnsey (2024)
You could not go a few plays without hearing the name Johnsey during the game, being on offense or defense. Connor, was key in stopping the run game of Summer Creek before it could get started early. He as well as the defensive line had their fingerprints on this game from the jump. The Tigers looked strong behind this group of players.
