In today’s article, we take a glance at two junior playmakers in the Houston area and two just north of Dallas. Included is a 2,100 yard rusher with zero offers.
RB Jayden Walker – 5’10” 180 – McKinney North HS / @JP_Walker26
Junior Stats: 2,107 yards and 22 touchdowns
The leading Class 5A rusher in the DFW metroplex has yet to see his first offer, but I expect that to change this offseason as coaches get a look at the numbers he put up this season. He’s a stud, plain and simple, who uses his natural instincts and feel for the game to dominate week after week. If you want to stop him, you better walk a safety down, because he’s got the explosiveness, and the wiggle, to easily beat 7 in the box. He’s got a jump cut that allows him to blow by linebackers and enough power to run through arm tackles. What school will be first to the party for the talented soon-to-be senior?
RB Jaden Shelton – 5’7″ 185 – George Ranch HS / @_JayShel
Junior Stats: 1,099 rush yards and 9 touchdowns
Shelton is a hard-nosed running back – just take a look at the first play on his highlight tape, when he gets his helmet ripped off and continues 32 yards to the end zone. He has some size limitations, but he will certainly catch on with a Division 2 or 3 program that wants a guy who will give his all on Saturday afternoons and develop into a primary runner for them. I like his vision, and he has great contact balance for a guy his size. Expect another 1,000+ yard season in 2023.
Currently has no offers.
WR Nick Brown – 5’9″ 160 – Heights HS / @LilNick045
Junior Stats: 18 receptions, 228 yards, 1 touchdown
Brown is a shifty slot receiver who has some serious upside for a smaller program. He’s quick off the line, can make you miss in the open field, and is a dangerous option on jet sweeps. Averaged 13 yards per reception as a junior, and I expect that he will have an even bigger senior season for the Bulldogs in 2023.
Will be a very nice pickup for a Division 3 program.
RB Nathan Adejokun – 6’1″ 185 – Melissa HS / @AdejokunNathan
Bang. Bounce. Cut. It’s what coaches expect to see when they take a look at a zone runner – and the junior back always comes up big for the Cardinals on Friday nights. A huge part of their successful (and still ongoing) playoff run, he’s a man amongst boys in 5A Division II. Above-average twitch and a frame he can still grow into, Adejokun already sports an offer from UTSA, and it’s easy to see why.
You can see him in playoff action vs South Oak Cliff this Friday night at 7:30.
