In my recent travels across the state, I came across a workhorse running back in Killeen who has the potential to be a quality gem for a small program, two corners in the Houston area who are must-see talents, and a slot receiver in Dallas who deserves some recruiting attention.
WR Xavier Alexander – 5’9″ 170 – North Crowley HS / @yaBetterDoubleX
Senior Stats: 19 receptions, 526 yards, 5 touchdowns
Alexander is a lightning bolt in the slot who had a stellar senior season for the Panthers. The unheralded speedster toasted cornerbacks every Friday night on his way to a jaw-dropping 27.7 yards per catch. He has the speed to blow by safeties in the vertical passing game, and can take a screen pass 60 yards in the blink of an eye. One of the biggest sleepers in the DFW metroplex.
RB Jakobe Deloach – 5’10” 200 – Killeen HS / @skywalkinKobe
Jakobe was just named First Team All-District today, and it’s easy to see why. The senior running back for the Kangaroos tallied 1,100 yards on the ground. The youngster sees the field well, runs with nice contact balance, and can pick up some tough yards after contact. Also, a very good receiver out of the backfield. Will be a quality pickup for a smaller program looking to add a workhorse to their running back room.
Currently has no offers.
CB Micah Williams – 6’1″ 180 – Richmond Foster HS / @YKMicah2
Senior Stats: 55 tackles, 3 interceptions, 4 pass breakups
Williams had an impressive season for a Falcons team that narrowly missed the playoffs in 2022. He possesses top-notch ball skills, but where he really shines is in perimeter run support. When runs bounce to the outside, he has an uncanny ability to explode downhill, fill the alley, and get guys on the ground in the backfield. He is a true leader on the defensive side of the ball, and I see a successful college career ahead of him.
Will be a fantastic pickup for a program looking for a difference-maker in the secondary.
Currently has no offers.
CB Chase Canada – 6’1″ 180 – Richmond Foster HS / @Ccanada9
A recent de-commit from Prairie View A&M, Canada should have a lot of coaches chomping at the bit. One of the most talented cornerbacks in the Houston area, he checks all the boxes – prototypical size, speed, fluid hips, and ball skills. He flips his hips well and changes direction on a dime, and really lays the lumber on the sidelines. Recently picked up his first FBS offer, and I’m sure interest will continue to build over the next two months. He did not allow a single touchdown all season.
Currently has an offer from UNLV.
