Continue ReadingI had the chance to scout the matchup between Rochester & Sacred-Heart Griffin live during Friday’s contest. This game will go down as a classic as Rochester picked up a demanding lead, at one point being up 28, and ended the first half with a 14 point lead. This lead then climbed to 21 with SHG not having an answer to Rochester’s high scoring performance. Next thing you know, SHG ends up getting back to back turnovers on Rochester to get them back into this game and this momentum switch was what turned the time in the game. SHG then went on to score 35 unanswered points to punch their ticket back to the 4A IHSA State Championship with a 56- 42 comeback win. That being said there are talented young men on both teams and we’re here to cover a few that caught my eye. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Rochester prospects to know.

Keeton Reiss
Keeton Reiss
Mr. Reiss was a workhorse on QB design runs refusing to go down on initial contact and breaking grab tackles to keep the chains moving. This resulted in him finishing with 4 rushing TDs on the night as he uses his frame to his advantage by keeping his feet driving through contact. He also was able to add a touch on level 3 throws and level 2 throws – specifically on the level 2 throws he was able to fit the ball into tight windows right between the safety and linebacker for a big completion setting his team up at the 1 yard line before getting in one on of his rushing TDs on the night. He also took some snaps on the D-Line in the 2nd half due to an injury where he flashed his potential there as well. Twitter
Parker Gillespie
Parker Gillespie
Mr. Gillespie lines up primarily as a receiver but also took snaps in the backfield as a halfback. Here, he keeps his feet driving breaking weak grab tackles to stay ahead of the sticks and threatening to turn the corner with his foot quicks. One play that really stood out was his ability to secure the catch in traffic and hold onto the ball after taking a heavy hit on a big completion to move the sticks on a 3rd down conversion. His foot quicks are one to keep an eye on as he can use this to his advantage both when bursting through the line of scrimmage when at halfback and being quick off the line of scrimmage with his release at receiver. Also can’t forget that he came away with a passing TD in the 2nd off a double pass that went for 81 yards to Jack Swaney Jack Swaney 6’2″ | 225 lbs | TE Springfield | 2024 IL .
Lance Ingold
Lance Ingold
Mr. Ingold was a force off the edge all night long bringing pressure on the QB and disrupting plays with his pass rush. This young man was able to do so by beating the offensive tackle to the turn point consistently with his quick first step out of his stance and would then close on the QB quickly. By doing so, this resulted in his flushing the QB out of the pocket and force errand throws. His relentless effort in his speed rush off the edge was impressive to say the least as he was a menace collapsing the pocket and with his pressure forced the QB to make an errand throw which was intercepted. In run support, he can use his closing ability here as well to limit the ball carrier’s chance to turn the corner securing a tackle for loss on the play. Overall, he has a great frame standing at 6’5 190 that has high potential for the next level. Coaches, get eyes on this young man now as you can get yourself a steal of a player. Twitter
Mr. Lichtenberger works both as a halfback and a linebacker in this contest. On offense, he was able to get into the endzone in the 1st through the ground game and did so by bursting through the hole using his downhill running style to force his way into the endzone. On defense, he was able to work gap to gap throughout the night and being able to close quickly between the tackles to meet the ball carrier in the hole for little to no gain on the play. Twitter
Canon Bruce
Canon Bruce
Mr. Bruce works as a receiver that flashes his ability to break the initial tackle after securing the catch and use his foot quicks to break a long run along the sideline to keep the chains moving. One area that he also excels at is being able to secure the catch in traffic between the safety and linebacker on seam routes that he bends to find the soft spot in zone coverage. The flashes he has here is what has me excited to keep tabs on this young man during the off season and see how he’s able to perform next season. Twitter
Honorable Mention
Henry Buecker 24′ WR 5’10 145
Jack Swaney Jack Swaney 6'2" | 225 lbs | TE Springfield | 2024 IL 24′ TE/DL 6’2 230
