IL making defenses have headaches, a DL making his mark, along with one heck of a fake punt for a TD, and an overall athlete rushing for over 300 yards along with 5 TDs. This is a small sample size of all of the standout performances that happened during all of the great playoff games that got played this past weekend. Without further ado, let’s dive into it.

The dynamic duo of Mascoutah strikes again in the playoffs and we’re going to be starting off with Mr. Hall. This young man was able to rack up 4 total TDs on the night with them coming from all aspects of the game. This was seen by getting 1 rushing TD, 2 reception TDs and a fumble recovery TD. This young man finished with 77 rushing yards and 133 receiving yards as well. As Mascoutah looks to take on Peoria, look for this young man to get involved in both offensive attacks as he’s a threat in both. Twitter

Mr. Middleton is the second part of this dynamic duo Mascoutah has and the Southern Illinois Commit was a menace during their Round 2 win against Highland. He finished with 21 carries for 194 yards and 3 TDs along with 3 receptions for 85 yards with 1 reception TD. This young man also got involved on defense securing 3 tackles and coming away with 1 pass breakup. Be sure to keep a close eye on this young man against Peoria as his playmaking abilities are off the charts, you may think you have him secured for a tackle but next thing you know he can use his elusiveness to make defenders miss breaking a long run in the process. All in all, Mascoutah has arguably one of the top receiving cores in the state and I’m looking forward to seeing how they perform this week. Twitter

Justin Dutkiewicz
Justin Dutkiewicz
Mr. Dutkiewicz is a new name to me this fall season but over the course of two playoff games he was able to come away with 1 fumble recovery, 1 TD, 3 sacks, 13 tackles, and 6 QB pressures. This is all done by his quickness out of his stance and active hands to win a the point of attack. When he does so, he can slip blocks to meet the ball carrier in the hole as well as take pursuit flat down the line of scrimmage to secure chasedown tackles for no gain. He switches between a 1 tech and 3 tech depending on the offensive formation, but his bull rush to generate QB pressure is one to watch. Unfortunately, Neuqua Valley lost to Lincoln Way East in a hard fought close contest but this young man still deserves the recognition for his performance. Twitter
Mr. Ellens is a dominant receiver and had to switch to halfback due to an injury during the regular season. Since doing so, he has been a menace in the ground game taking all of his traits that make him a great wideout and using them to be a dominant ball carrier. During Round 2, this young man was able to come away with 312 rushing yards for 5 TD (yes that’s correct) in a 42-0 win to advance to the quarterfinals. His 5TD film is below, go take a look and see for yourself how dominant of a player he is. Twitter

I’ve been a big supporter of Mr. Franklin for some time now since I first scouted him as a Sophomore and he continues to perform each week. Combine his talents with that of Lynell Billups-Williams and you have yourself an electric receiving core that plays in a high powered offense that can strike quick and fast. This young man gets the nod for this article as his 95 yard TD is what was the difference maker in their 35 to 12 win against Simeon. With 7 minutes left in the contest this young man took things into his own hands by running a fake punt using his deadly foot quicks to break a long run for 6 giving his team a bigger cushion than the 7 point lead they had at the time of this snap. As the Warriors ride this momentum into the quarterfinals, they’re faced with a tough opponent in East St. Louis. Last Season the Warriors fell to East St. Louis in the Semi Finals 54-13, look for the Warriors to continue their dominant playoff performance and make a run for the 6A IHSA State Title. Twitter
