De La Salle is one of the most well-known teams in the state, while Forest Hills Central is not well-known outside of Grand Rapids. This article will highlight prospects to watch; specifically ones to watch that still have room to raise their stock.
DB | Ty Hudkins Ty Hudkins 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI | Forest Hills Central
This is where Hudkins can insanely boost his stock. He’s one of the best DBs in the state, and he consistently plays at a high level. Last week against Dexter, he had a few huge hits against the elite Dexter offense. He’s a guy that flies to the ball, hits hard, and is a turnover machine. He’ll be facing one of the best passing offenses in the state with all eyes on him. He already has an offer from Western Michigan, but other than that, the recruitment has been silent. I’m excited to see what could be ahead for Ty.
DE | Mason Muragin Mason Muragin 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL De La Salle | 2023 State MI | De La Salle
I don’t think Mason has much more to prove, but he’s always a very fun player to watch. He’s one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the Midwest, and I think Illinois has a steal with Mason. Last year, Mason went up against a highly-ranked tackle and absolutely dominated. This time around, I think he’ll continue to dominate.
RB | JT Hartman JT Hartman 5'9" | 190 lbs | RB Forest Hills Central | 2024 State MI | Forest Hills Central
Hartman has a chance to earn a ring while getting amazing exposure. He’s a short, quick back with nice speed and great vision. He works insanely hard day in and day out, and he’s bound to get many looks during the state title. Now, DLS has a great front 7 and they shut down a physical RB last weekend, so if JT can have a standout game, it would say a lot about where he stands as a prospect.
WR | Triston Nichols Triston Nichols 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR De La Salle | 2023 State MI | De La Salle
Nichols showed up and showed out during last season’s state title game, and he could again this weekend. I love this kid’s size at 6’3 185, and I love his IQ, release, hands, etc. It will be interesting to see how FHC covers Triston, but no matter what, I expect him to be WR1.
DL | Crandall Quinn | Forest Hills Central
Crandell is a physical, strong D lineman who can make a big difference this weekend. He had a standout game against Mona Shores and will need to have another strong performance against De La Salle. This is a prospect not known by many people, so a big game will do great things for his exposure.
