Based on this information it is safe to say that this may be a very close contest with both teams fighting to gain an extra possession for a chance to put the ball game out of reach. Below are some athletes that will be formative in the narrative of how the game will go tonight. The winner of this game goes on while the loser heads into the off-season.
From looking at both these teams what is apparent is that both these teams lean more toward the passing game than the running game. For the Lewisburg Patrios their passing game is led by junior Gunner Gilmore (QB). Gilmore is slated to average over 150 yards per game through the air this season showcasing his ability to lead his team up and down the field various times. He has a total of 16 all purpose touchdowns as he is a versatile athlete who can make big plays with the ball in his hands. For the Desoto Central Jaguars their signal caller is senior Andrew Moore(QB). Moore is a gun slinger who has over 1,800 yards passing and nearly 500 additional yards on the ground. He has the dual threat capability that gives defenses a difficult time committing to stopping either. His ability to make big plays is evident however both these quarterbacks will need to be extra careful with every pass and pay attention to minimizing turnovers. Moore has a pair of excellent receivers in Destin Wheeler(WR) and Parker Odle(WR) who both have over 600 yards due to their explosive playmaking ability. the Jaguar’s Lucas Gaschk(WR) has exellent hands and playmaking ability as well but he will certainly need to be on another level to match that of Destin and Parker.
Defensively these teams will need to take away what their opponents do best which is pass the ball. In order to achieve this teams will attempt to apply pressure on the quarterback and play solid disciplined defense. The Jaguas have many incredible defensive athletes but among those Taurean Davis(MLB) and Christopher Thomas(DE) stand out the most. Thomas is an absolute feind who constantly meets opponents behind or near the line of scrimmage. This year alone he has over 14 sacks as he gets to the QB with both speed and power. Davis on the other hand is the Jaguar’s leading tackler with over 121 tackles for the season which puts him at 12th in the state. His aggressive downhill and side to side flow has made him extremely effective in both the run game and pass game. His performance will be key to winning the game tonight. The Patriot’s defense isn’t as flashy as their offense but they get the job done well by committee. Every tackle is made with 3-4 Patriots coming to assist in the tackle. In order for their team to be successful the communication and execution needs to be evident from the first snap.
Nevertheless, whichever team can put their athletes in the best position to make big plays will prove to be the victor at the end. My predictions can be found below
