Continue ReadingThis contest between the Biloxi Indians and the Gulfport Admirals will be a well-attended Gulf coast matchup. These two teams fared exceptionally well in their perspective seasons with a 5-1 record each and no more than two losses for the season. Gulfport is ranked 15th in the state while Biloxi is ranked 27th. The result of this contest will be decided by the following athletes below.
The Biloxi Indians are a team that prefers running the ball however they also have the ability to gain yards through the air. Their offense will be led by junior Quarterback Zachary Marlin(QB) and Running backs Chris Norwood(RB) and Damaryion Fillmore(RB). Zach has been excellent for Biloxi this year completing over 63% of his passes for just over 1,000 yards. If the Admirals decide to put their efforts into stopping the run Marlin may need to step up and make some difficult throws. Norwood and Fillmore make up the Indian’s two-headed run game attack. Combined both backs have over 1,100 yards and average over 8 yards per carry. Biloxi will look to establish the running game early and utilize it often. Their defense will be led by the impressive 6-2 215lb linebacker in Jayce Cummings(MLB). Jayce has been their leading tackler all year and has done a great job of shutting down great athletes across the line of scrimmage. Jayce will need to be playing one of his best games this Friday in order to give his team another chance to win the Championship.
The Gulfport Admirals have incredibly talented athletes at all positions on the field. Their Quarterback Jacob Palazzo(QB) is considered one of the top 30 QBs in the state. He averages nearly 175 yards per game through the air and does an excellent job of getting the ball to his receivers. One of his favorite targets Cameron Joseph(WR) is an explosive playmaker with excellent hands and incredible speed. With the ball in his hands, he has the ability to turn a quick-out route into a long touchdown. He, along with various other receivers will certainly stress Biloxi’s defense in numerous ways. Furthermore, when the Admirals elect to run the football they have an excellent running back in Emmanuel Bentley(RB) who averages over 6 yards per game and is very elusive as a runner. Behind Bentley, there are various other explosive backs who average at least 5 yards per carry or more. On Defense, Landon Pettis(OLB) is an absolute menace of an athlete. This year alone Pettis has made over 110 tackles with various for losses. He is versatile however as he can cover a lot of space in the passing game as well. If Gulfport utilizes all of it’s offensive weapons and does a good job of shutting down the running game they could very well be winners of this contest.
Overall both these teams have a good chance of winning this game on Friday. I am expecting a really close well fought battle with a very narrow score margin. The team who can play all 4 quarters with limiting mistakes and turnovers will be able to gain the upper hand over their opponent. Below is my prediction for this contest.
