Continue Reading-Very good looking prospect at 6-foot-1 and 160-pounds. In my opinion, the top player on a Region Championship-winning team. Was voted by coaches, as the Regional Player of the Year.
-A long-strider when moving on the gridiron with unassuming speed. Not necessarily a burner at this point but pulls away from most others on the field.
-Has a long, lean build that could translate to multiple positions as he advances to the high school level. Lined up at Wide Receiver, Running Back, Wing, Safety, Linebacker and more this season. Tomlin should continue to be a very dangerous and versatile weapon for the Jackets program.
Highlights
Andrew Spellman
Andrew Spellman
-A bit of a throwback type of player that can keep the chains moving with tough runs on offense, but really stands out to me as an Outside Linebacker.
-A four-sport athlete that straight up competes. At 5-foot-10 and 160-pounds he plays forward in basketball, participates in track and field and also plays defense in lacrosse. Lacrosse is an emerging sport in the Blue Grass State and he looks like he could have a future there, too.
-Appears to have the frame to add a good amount of muscle as he continues to mature. To me, his ticket to the next level is at Linebacker, must improve strength at the point of engagement to maximize potential. Certainly moves very well at this point. Time will tell.
-What he gives up in size, at just 5-foot-6 and 130-pounds, he more than makes up for with his nonstop will to win and ability to turn it on in all three phases.
-Has decent speed for this level and very good quickness. Main position was Quarterback but also played Defensive Back and was a factor as a Returner. At the helm, showed dual-threat ability and forced defenses to account for him on every play.
-Another multi-sport athlete for the Jackets with an athletic skill set that easily transitions. With his quickness and agility easy to see why he also plays Point Guard on the hardwood and Attack on lacrosse.
Josiah McKee
Josiah McKee
-Given his 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame, McKee has the biggest upside of any Woodford County player who earned a Player of the Year nomination. The potential is through the roof here.
-Very obviously still growing into his body, he has some substantial room for improvement in regards to his fluidity and overall athleticism. That said, there’s absolutely something about McKee’s game that people need to watch
-Was used as a Tight End on offense and bounced between Defensive Tackle and Defensive End across the front. Despite being raw with using his hands and length to his advantage, he found his way into the backfield on a regular basis. He could become one of the best Defensive Linemen in the state with further development.
