Gladwin vs. Frankenmuth is the most excited I’ve been for a D5 championship in years, and this game features prospects across the board that are absolutely electric. This article will outline four key prospects, and it will discuss what they can do to help their team win.
QB | Aidan Hoard | Frankenmuth
Hoard is an electric QB for the Eagles. I honestly did not expect his highlights to be so good, as he can truly sling it. The 6’4 QB sports good fundamentals and great accuracy for playing in D5. He has a great understanding of the game, and is very experienced. He’ll have a great test against an experienced Gladwin secondary that forced some turnovers against a great passing offense.
DB/WR | Kaden McDonald | Gladwin
McDonald is one of the best DBs playing in the state championships and has another prime opportunity to show out this weekend. Last weekend he was a bit quiet, but knowing his potential, I’m excited to see what he can do. Kaden is blazing-fast and takes away the deep ball. He’s also able to stop the run and force some turnovers.
EDGE | Colin Main | Frankenmuth
This is a spectacular game-changer on the defensive side of the ball. Colin is a rare edge rusher who lines up in the 2-point and makes QBs and RBs pay. As a pass rusher, he’s good at getting by tackles and sacking less athletic QBs. As a run-stopper, he plays the contain incredibly well and lays the wood. This is a defensive leader for Frankenmuth, and I’m excited to watch him!
G/DE | Lincoln McKinnon | Gladwin
Last weekend Gladwin did well in the trenches, and they’ll have to do so again. On the offensive end, Lincoln played well last week, as he had a few key blocks and a few instances where he made great blocks at the second level. On defense, he was dominant. Lincoln kept getting to the QB, shed some blocks, and really forced pressure on Wolf. If he can force similar pressure this weekend, Gladwin has a great shot at victory.
