The Fort Smith Southside defense has an outstanding defender in Junior defensive lineman John Parkinson John Parkinson 6’2″ | 210 lbs | DL Fort Smith Southside | 2024 State AR . A standout force in pass rushing and a run stopper. He is 6’2, 220 pounds with 4.7 speed in the 40 yard dash. John bench presses 275 pounds and squats 350 pounds with a 3.75 GPA.
What separates him from other defensive linemen is his aggression and a motor that never stops. His strengths are getting off the ball fast and his use of his hands. With the will to never stop until he makes another stop. John is always giving 110 percent.
He attended camps at the University of Arkansas and the University Of Central Arkansas this past summer. John intends on going to camps at the University of Arkansas,University of Central Arkansas and Oklahoma State University next summer. He says that Coach Selmon and Coach Cox of Southside have given him the most support on the team.
John says what he loves the most about playing football is relationships with his teammates and winning. He shows his leadership on the team making sure everyone has their head in the game and keeping everyone positive. John finished his Junior season with 58 tackles and 13 sacks. He likes to be pushed and be held at a higher standard with dominance on the defensive front.
He wants his team to dominate and be held accountable and responsible with determination to be the best that they can be. I feel

Evan Shelby is another piece of the puzzle to help lead his Fort Smith Southside Mavericks to be successful on the defensive side of the ball. The Junior linebacker is 6’0, 190 pounds with a determination to get bigger and stronger. With 4.75 speed in the 40 yard dash and a bench press of 250 pounds and squat of 330 pounds
Evan is strong academically with a 3.7 GPA. He finished his Junior season with 81 tackles and 11 tackles for losses in 9 games. He attended camps at the University of Arkansas, You R Athletes Camp in Dallas and the University Of Central Arkansas. Evan plans on attending camps next summer at the University of Arkansas, the University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas State University and possibly others.
His strengths are Football IQ,, Strength, being a sure tackler and being coachable. Evan started 3 games as a Sophomore. What separates him from other linebackers in the state is his 100 percent effort and heart on the field.
