There’s been a shift since the last time I spotlighted these RB’s, with some new players coming into the top five and some dropping out. There’s several highly recruited players as well as some under the radar prospects. At Prep Redzone we will always try and Spotlight as many players and Prospects as possible in a weekly basis.
1. Jason Patterson Jason Patterson 5'11" | 200 lbs | RB Sneads | 2024 State FL – Sneads High c/o 24
6’0 205lbs
Patterson has been pretty much a mainstay in the top five all season long and rushing. He ended the season number one in the state with 2,274 yards, averaging 14 yards per carry with 31 rushing touchdowns! He’s a high-profile Junior prospect that has several D1 offers. Sneads High will be tough to beat in the playoffs with Patterson in the backfield. Patterson lead Sneads High against Cottondale in the regional semifinals this Friday.
2. Cole Tabb- Choctawhatchee High c/o 24
5’8 185lbs
Tabb is a player I spotlighted to watch coming out of the spring. My assessment was correct, he finished second in the state in rushing with 2,168 yd, averaging over 8 yards per carry, with 24 rushing touchdowns, and 10-100 yd rushing games. He was also outstanding in the passing game finishing with 19 receptions for 341 yards. He’s a three down back that has good vision, open field speed, and acceleration to break the game open at any moment. His stock has skyrocketed since the spring picking up several D1 offers from teams such as NC state, Kansas, and Kansas State to name a few.
3. Kayleb Wagner Kayleb Wagner 6'1" | 200 lbs | RB Baker | 2023 FL – Baker High c/o 23
6’1 205lbs
Wagner’s been one of the best players in the state for several seasons now. He finished third in the state after rushing for 2097 yards, averaging 8 yards per carry, with 25 rushing touchdowns. He averaged 191 yards rushing per game. Wagner can flat out play; he has over 5,500 yards rushing in 3 years! He’s one of the best backs in the state and is currently committed to Southern Illinois University.
4. Mark Wilder- Doral Academy c/o 23
5’8 175lbs
Wilder was fantastic this season for Doral Academy. The under the radar back finished 4th in the entire State of Florida after rushing for 1,931 yards, averaging over and outstanding 9.2 yards per carry with 22 rushing touchdowns. He’s a three down back that also registered 14 receptions for 139 yards and two touchdown receptions. He’ll lead Doral Academy into the second round of the state playoffs this week as they take on Western High. Wilder shows good feet in the hole, lateral agility, and the ability to hit the crease quickly for big gains. He has several small school offers.
5. Jace Grant- Aucilla Christian c/o 23
5’11 190lbs
Grant burst on the scene in 2022 and has been outstanding the last two seasons. He finished this season in the state after rushing for 1,866 yd, averaging 8.5 yards per carry with 27 rushing touchdowns and averaging 187 yd rushing per game. He rushed for almost 3,000 yards in two seasons. He led Aucilla Christian to a 7-3 regular season and a playoff spot. Grant runs with really good power, keeps his legs churning and shows good contact balance, he’s not just a power runner, he has the speed to get to the edge and pick up big yards. He’s under the radar player coaches need to check out.
