Clt Christian @ Prov. Day – Championship – Defensive Standouts

Providence Day dominated in the NCISAA State Championship Game, defeating Charlotte Christian 55-13. Here are the defensive standouts from the game:

Providence Day - ATH [player_tooltip player_id='147623' first='Channing' last='Goodwin'] - While Goodwin is a highly-ranked 4 Star Wide Receiver by recruiting services, he showed that he can play some Free Safety as well. While the game was still close in the first half, Goodwin came up with two interceptions that helped set up the talented Chargers offense with short fields to ultimately capitalize on those drives with touchdowns. Goodwin also had a receiving touchdown in the 2nd half to help put the game away on a beautiful deep ball from [player_tooltip player_id='91362' first='Jadyn' last='Davis']. Goodwin has offers from multiple Division 1 programs, and this performance will do nothing but enhance his recruiting.

Providence Day - DL David Sanders - While Sanders plays both offensive line and defensive line for the Chargers, he had a few key pressures on the quarterback that resulted in interceptions for their defense. He also played a key role in keeping star running back [player_tooltip player_id='155173' first='Kyron' last='Jones'] from getting going at all with a couple of tackles for no gain or for loss at the line of scrimmage. Ranked as the top player in the 2025 class by several recruiting services, he had a great game on both sides of the ball.

Charlotte Christian - EDGE Derrick Brown Jr. - It was a tough night overall for Christian, however, Brown Jr. had some flashes early on in the game when things were still in doubt. He showed good ability in maintaining the edge on run plays and got some pressure on Davis on the first couple of drives of the game. At 6'3 and 225 pounds, he has a frame that college coaches will love and I think his best football is ahead of him on the next level.

Providence Day - ATH [player_tooltip player_id='149087' first='Brody' last='Barnhardt'] - This talented 2024 player had an impressive interception in the 2nd half to kind of seal the deal on the game, after Christian had just forced a turnover of their own. The PA Announcer kept calling him "Big Play Barnhardt" after he also had a couple of nice catches on offense, one for a touchdown as well. He has excellent speed - his Twitter profile states that he runs a 4.51 40 time - and he has a knack for getting into space and making things happen on both sides of the football.

Check out some highlights from the game right here:

https://twitter.com/pepman704/status/1594056427923980289?s=20&t=ZsL3AlBXZM9SsR47gFBULQ
