Washington High School is an undefeated and underrated team. The Washington Eagles are undefeated and stand tall at 9-0. This squad reigns over 4A football in the city of Houston right now and the most impressive part is not that they average scoring 52 points a game and average allowing only 9.5 points a game. Nor that their offense averages almost 400 yards a game and their defense only allows around 134 yards a game. The most impressive piece is that almost everyone on this team is utilized.
Sr. MLB. Daelin Randle
Standout Sr. MLB Daelin Randle is a man on a mission. He is an amazing run defender and knows how to commit to the best angles to make the play. His eyes do not get lost in the backfield and have the weight and strength to withstand the block from an offensive lineman. Has a very powerful style of play but shows some hesitance in coverage, but he makes an excellent blitz package and run stop linebacker.
So. WR. Broadrick Malone
So. WR Broadrick Malone is the big target possession and big play receiver for the Eagles. He stands around 6’5 and currently has three offers. But he has great hands to win the endzone 50/50 while having the speed to make yards after the catch. Hitch and vertical routes are more than bread and butter. He is physical but it will be interesting to see his style evolve as his physical strength and frame grows over time.
Sr. G. Chipper Hogue IV
Sr. guard Chipper Hogue IV is 6’0 and 334 pounds and is a perfect run-blocking guard and has a great base to keep defenders in front of him. Blitzers have no chance of getting past him but the only thing that may need to develop is his feet. Possibly might have trouble run blocking past the first level of the defense. But interior pass protection, assist blocking, and priority-level line blocking are what this player excels at.
Sr. WR. Andre Walker II
Sr. Wr. Andre Walker II is a complete deep route package at inside or at the slot position. He stands at 5’11 and weighs around 175 his moves as a returner serve him greatly on the offensive end. He has a powerful release into his routes and even better speed to escape the first defender on a comeback. His biggest plus is that he finishes play even when he is not receiving the ball. He is fearless with inside routes and 2nd level blocking.
Sr. DE. Jerome Edwards
Sr. DE. Jerome Edwards stands at 6’3 and weighs around 220 pounds. He not only leads his team in tackles but also leads them in sacks. The Eagles run a three-man front with a walk-down OLB, and Jerome primarily plays to the weak side. He has a head-hunter style of play that uses his quickness off the ball to get into the backfield to chase down or stop any backside plays. If placed in a different defense his position could change, but that truly depends on which style is his strength. He has a very malleable skill set that can be geared to adapt to almost any defense.
