I think this week is going to be pivotal for all of the matchup in round two. My thoughts on all of the squads lining up this week are that all of them have potential to win the state title. I think the team with the best chance of a win is going to be Pulaski Academy or Greenwood. All of the squads have potential to stay alive, but, the teams with the best shot are those two.
In Saline County with the Benton Panthers will take on their ling time rivals, the Lake Hamilton Wolves. Currently the Panthers are on a seven game winning streak. Lake Hamilton did win the first round of their playoffs to advance and play Benton who had the first Round Bye. A couple of guys I’m watching for Benton is, tackle, Parker Glaze Parker Glaze 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Benton | 2025 State AR . Running Back Braylen Russel and two young receivers Maddox Davis and Elias Payne Elias Payne 5'8" | 165 lbs | WR Benton | 2025 State AR . For Lake Hamilton the guy that holds the team on his back, Justin Crutchmer Justin Crutchmer 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Lake Hamilton | 2023 State AR at running back. I think that the running game will be pivotal for the Panthers to stop this week. In my own mind I can see Benton pulling this game out when the final whistle blows.
Over in Greenwood, the Greenwood Bulldogs take on the Russellville Cyclones in a one sided affair in my opinion. The bulldogs look great on offense this season and pretty solid on defense. O offense the Offensive Line needs to step up and fill some of those gaps and allow their running back Tracey Daniels. Do I think Russellville will be able to hag around for a little bit, yes, but I don’t see them pulling this one out.
In Pulaski County we have the Catholic Rockets taking on the Little Rock Christian Warriors. This is the matchup you want to go and see in person. For Catholic on offense the offensive line needs to be able to contain a solid Warrior defensive line lead by Jaxon Carleson Jaxon Carleson 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL Little Rock Christian | 2025 State AR . I think that overall that the Warriors are the better team but don’t count out the Rockets with some big time playmakers on offense like Thomas Duch Thomas Duch 6'0" | 160 lbs | QB Little Rock Catholic | 2024 State AR at Wide Receiver and at Running Back Dominic Keeton. Overall it will be a shootout in my opinion so I look forward to a high scoring game!
The last matchup of round two is going to be Pulaski Academy takes on Mountain Home. Honestly I think this game will be a win for Pulaski Academy. Do I think Mountain Home has some fight in them? Absolutely I think they do! I think they have some great play players all over the field like Elijah Lagg Elijah Lagg 6'4" | 230 lbs | OL Mountain Home | 2023 State AR who has been phenomenal all season long! I think that Lagg and the big time tackle Allen Thomason Allen Thomason 6'5" | 255 lbs | OL Pulaski Academy | 2023 State AR is going to be a great matchup to watch for this coming Friday!
This Friday is a great night for some quality high school football in the Natural State (Arkansas)! In 6A there is a lot of great talent across the board and I look forward to a rollercoaster night this Friday with some possible upsets or just some great matchups!
