The Archbishop Carroll Lions took home WCAC gold over the weekend by defeating their long time Metro Conference rivals PVI. The Lions were victorious 46-28, and the Lions' offense was cooking the entire game. Let's take a closer look at the top five overall performances from Sunday's WCAC Metro Championship.

2023 6'4 250 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='90668' first='Ty'Sean' last='Helm'] - Archbishop Carroll

The 1st Team All-WCAC quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='90668' first='Ty'Sean' last='Helm'], delivered a spectacular performance for the Lions over the weekend, and he achieved a 85.4 QBR during Carroll's victory. Helm was consistently great throughout his Senior season, and it is truly fitting that Helm caps off his phenomenal high school football career with a championship. Helm accounted for three total touchdowns against PVI, and he ran two of them in for rushing scores. [player_tooltip player_id='90668' first='Ty'Sean' last='Helm'] is the epitome of a dual-threat quarterback, and there's no doubt in my mind that his abilities will translate perfectly to the college game. Quarterback scouts everywhere must know the name [player_tooltip player_id='90668' first='Ty'Sean' last='Helm'], and they should recruit him immediately.

2023 5'9 191 RB - [player_tooltip player_id='146616' first='Jamal' last='Mungo'] Jr - Archbishop Carroll

While [player_tooltip player_id='146616' first='Jamal' last='Mungo'] did not score in this contest, he carried the ball 18 times for 71 yards averaging almost four yards per carry. Mungo Jr's presence in the backfield was absolutely essential to Carroll's success all season long, and he had more than established himself as the lead back heading into Sunday's game. With 1,050 rushing yards this season and eight total touchdowns, [player_tooltip player_id='146616' first='Jamal' last='Mungo'] Jr put forth the most dominant season of his career which was integral to the Lions' championship victory. [player_tooltip player_id='146616' first='Jamal' last='Mungo'] Jr must be recruited very seriously, because he has an extremely high ceiling and an incredibly bright future ahead of him.

2024 6'0 200 RB/LB - [player_tooltip player_id='263144' first='Nasir' last='Smith'] - Archbishop Carroll

[player_tooltip player_id='263144' first='Nasir' last='Smith'] completely dominated in this game, and his stats absolutely speak for themselves. Smith carried the ball nine times for 50 yards and multiple touchdown scores. He was particularly efficient in the red-zone, and he also blocked noticeably well for his quarterback. [player_tooltip player_id='263144' first='Nasir' last='Smith'] is an incredibly intelligent running back with elite vision, and, even if gaps aren't there, he will find a gap to exploit on the line of scrimmage no matter what. Smith is also an elite linebacker, and he was named to the All-WCAC defensive 1st Team this year for that position. [player_tooltip player_id='263144' first='Nasir' last='Smith'] is in a great spot to put up even bigger numbers next year in 2023, and my way too early prediction is that [player_tooltip player_id='263144' first='Nasir' last='Smith'] will be a 1st Team All-WCAC running back in the Fall of 2023.

2024 6'0 160 DB - [player_tooltip player_id='497987' first='Camren' last='Williams'] - Archbishop Carroll

[player_tooltip player_id='497987' first='Camren' last='Williams'] hauled-in the game sealing interception for the Lions, and he ran the pick all the way back to the opposing end-zone for a game winning pick 6! Williams ran the pick back nearly the entire length of the field, and he was seemingly untouched when he did so. Williams' interception was most definitely one of the game changing plays from this championship, and the highlight reel interception capped off a spectacular overall performance from the Junior defensive back. [player_tooltip player_id='497987' first='Camren' last='Williams'] is one of the elite DBs on this roster, and scouts everywhere who're looking for defensive secondary players must know the name [player_tooltip player_id='497987' first='Camren' last='Williams']. He's a premier defensive back with a lot of upside.

2023 6'2 180 WR - Marcus Brown - Archbishop Carroll

Marcus Brown only made one catch in this championship game, however, his catch was one of the most impactful plays on the day for the Carroll Lions. Brown ran his catch all the way in the end-zone for a 61 yard touchdown score, and it gave Carroll the lead in an extremely critical point in the game. Brown is an All-American track star at Archbishop Carroll, and his running prowess and athleticism translated extremely well on the football field during his high school career. Marcus Brown's speed can only be described as incendiary, and college football scouts nationwide would be very wise to recruit him. He possesses incredible ability and an even better work ethic. Marcus Brown and the 2022 Carroll Lions are champions in every sense of the word!
