This article will briefly examine Friday and Saturday’s attended playoff games and a few standout players from the match.
#11 Erie (8-4) at #6 Denver South (9-2) | Friday, November 11, 2022
Final Score: 35-10 Erie
The Erie Tigers beat the Denver South Ravens in a game they were not favored to win. The Tigers found their spark early in the game, scoring a touchdown on a pass connecting between Blake Barnett Blake Barnett 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Erie | 2024 State CO (2024 QB) and Caden Lettis Caden Lettis 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Erie | 2023 State CO (2023 WR) with 7:44 left in the first quarter. The Ravens responded with a passing touchdown of their own, with Joseph Capra Joseph Capra 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Denver South | 2023 State CO (2023 QB) hitting Henry Danford (2024 WR) in the endzone with four and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
The game stayed tied until Barnett broke free on a 40-yard touchdown run with 3:09 left in the half. Denver South managed to reach the redzone but could not score a touchdown. Max Lindenbaum Max Lindenbaum 6'3" | 185 lbs | K Denver South | 2023 State CO (2023 K) scored the final points of the half by kicking a field goal with just under two minutes left until halftime.
Erie took control during the second half of the game and never looked back. Barnett scored three more rushing touchdowns, one in the third quarter and two in the fourth, giving the Tigers a comfortable win over the Ravens.

Looking Ahead
Erie will be heading to Parker to face off against the Ponderosa Mustangs. This game will be a rematch of the season-opening game, in which Ponderosa won 39-27. The loss has been looming over the Tigers all season, giving the game the potential to be an exciting one that can end in either team’s favor.

Broomfield’s playoff debut was nothing less than outstanding, as the Eagles dominated the Windsor Wizards for all four quarters. On his very first passing attempt of the game, Cole LaCrue Cole LaCrue 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Broomfield | 2023 State CO (2023 QB) hit Anthony Cobb (2024 WR) on a 67-yard touchdown connection with 9:35 still to play in the opening quarter. LaCrue threw his second touchdown in less than three minutes after his first, connecting with Canon Juarez (2023 CB/WR) this time. Broomfield’s third score of the game came in the first 30 seconds of the second quarter on a rushing touchdown by LaCrue.
The Eagles went on to score three more times, all of which happened in the third quarter. Brent Harris (2024 DB/WR/ATH) scored a rushing touchdown early in the third, and Luke Francis (2023 RB) scored on a run with just over two minutes to play in the quarter. The game’s final score happened one minute later when Harris intercepted a pass and took it to the house, giving him two interceptions on the day.
