To get you prepared for the action, we bring you some players to watch from each title contest. Here’s a look at the 8-Player matchup:
REMSEN ST. MARY’S (12-0)
- No. 8 Ryan Willman, ’23, WR, 6-5, 180 – Willman is a matchup problem for most defenders. He comes into the championship with 32 receptions for 808 yards (25.3 YPC) and 17 touchdown grabs. Willman also punts.
- No. 13 Jaxon Bunkers Jaxon Bunkers 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Remsen St. Mary's | 2023 IA , ’23, LB, 6-1, 210 – Bunkers paces the Hawks with 58.5 tackles (34 solo, 10.0 for loss), 3.0 sacks, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries. Offensively, he’s caught 18 passes for 288 yards and six touchdowns. He also serves as the team’s kicker with two field goals and 41 extra points to his credit.
- No. 15 Cael Ortmann, ’23, QB/LB, 6-2, 205 – Ortmann is completing almost 80 percent of his passes for 1,746 yards and 32 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He’s rushed for 783 yards (7.8 YPC) with 16 scores. He has 3.0 tackles for loss and a pick on defense.
- No. 21 Brenden Fisch Brenden Fisch 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Remsen St. Mary's | 2023 IA , ’23, RB/LB, 5-10, 180 – Fisch leads St. Mary’s in rushing with 791 yards (8.1 YPC) and 16 touchdowns. He’s added eight receptions for 169 yards and a pair of scores. Defensively, he has 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. He’s returned three kicks for 108 yards and two TDs.
- No. 3 Alex Schroeder Alex Schroeder 5'9" | 160 lbs | LB Remsen St. Mary's | 2023 IA , ’23, RB/LB, 5-9, 165 – Schroeder’s five interceptions are the most on the team. He’s run two of them back for touchdowns. He’s tied for the lead with Bunkers for solo tackles (34). He’s rushed for 481 yards and nine scores, and caught 32 passes for 446 yards and seven TDs.
WACO (13-0)
- No. 2 Isaac Oswald, ’23, QB/S, 5-10, 126 – Oswald has thrown for 1,547 yards and 23 touchdowns with five interceptions. He’s added 201 yards and eight scores rushing.
- No. 22 Simeon Reichenbach Simeon Reichenbach 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB WACO | 2023 IA , ’23, RB/LB, 6-1, 193 – Reichenbach is a handful to bring down. He’s rushed for 1,541 Yards (9.2 YPC) and 32 touchdowns. He’s caught 32 passes for 342 yards and five scores. Defensively, he has 40 solo tackles and 11.0 stops for loss with three interceptions, including a Pick-6. He serves as the team’s kicker, hitting 10 of 14 field goal attempts, the longest being from 49 yards.
- No. 8 Louden Huisenga, ’25, RB/LB, 6-3, 164 – The sophomore contributes all over the field. He’s combined for 568 yards rushing and receiving with 13 touchdowns. On defense, he’s produced 53.5 tackles (37 solo, 5.0 for loss) with three interceptions, one of which was returned for a score.
- No. 23 Colton Leichty Colton Leichty 6'1" | 185 lbs | TE WACO | 2024 State IA , ’24, TE/LB, 6-3, 196 – Leichty is a force on the Warrior defense. He comes into the title matchup with 16.5 sacks and 25.5 tackles for loss. He’s intercepted a pass and recovered three fumbles.
- No. 32 Oleh Shtefanchuk, ’23, WR/DB, 6-2, 190 – Shtefanchuk contributes on both sides of the ball. He’s caught 18 passes for 403 yards (22.4 YPC) and nine touchdowns. He racked up a 51 solo tackles with 3.0 for loss and a sack. He also intercepted five passes.
