With so many programs getting the opportunity to compete in the post season play, the additional exposure the athletes are receiving is a huge plus.
Whether it’s one week or five weeks, there are a number of impressive football prospects who will have their chance to shine.
Here are five players to watch for in the state playoffs:
2023 – Madden Buratczuk, OLB, 6-1, 190, Spring Hill Springstead. Here is someone who will certainly get after you. His 21 sacks and 32 QB hurries shows why he is one of the premier defensive prospects in the state. He is quick, athletic and versatile enough to rush the passers while gifted to drop into pass coverage. One of the many football players who flew under the radar screen and will have the chance to make an impression in the state playoffs. OPENING MATCHUP: No. 5 New Port Richey Mitchell (7-3) at No. 4 Spring Hill Springstead (9-1)
2023 – Reggie Heywood, RB, 5-10, 180, Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian Academy. One of the major reasons that the Eagles soared to a seven-win season. Versatile runner who made a lasting impression while leading the team to the state playoffs. His 1,515 and 17 touchdowns were among the best in Florida. Quality talent. OPENING MATCHUP: No. 6 Boca Raton St. Andrew’s (7-3) at No. 3 Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (7-2)
2023 – Grayson Howard Grayson Howard 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Jacksonville Andrew Jackson | 2023 State FL , OLB/DE, 6-3, 220, Jacksonville Andrew Jackson. This University of South Carolina commit truly had an amazing career with this program. A versatile performer who stepped up to make a huge impact during a season where this program certainly turned plenty of heads, Was among Florida’s best defensive players – with 171 tackles 16 sacks. He gives this team a huge force as a linebacker and as a defensive end. OPENING MATCHUP: No. 8 Jacksonville Riverside (4-6) at No. 1 Jacksonville Andrew Jackson (8-2)

This FSU commitment had a monster season with 1,177 yards and 18 touchdowns. Gives this program a true threat who can turn games around with his speed, athleticism and skill level. OPENING MATCHUP: No. 8 Harmony (6-4) at No. 1 Vero Beach (9-1)
2024 – J.P. Pickles J.P. Pickles 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Tallahassee North Florida Christian | 2024 FL , QB, 6-1, 200, Tallahassee North Florida Christian. Talk about the offensive MVP in this state. You do not need to look any further than this young man, who led the Eagles to a perfect regular season, and turned heads at every stop. His numbers were mind-boggling to say the least. How about 2,684 yards passing and 34 touchdowns! OPENING MATCHUP: No. 4 Tallahassee Maclay (4-6) at No. 1 Tallahassee North Florida Christian (10-0)
