Stupples is an explosive powerful back who I wondered watching his film if he ever got tired of running. I say that because he breaks big TD run after big TD run. He’s a violent runner who is able to move defenders out of the way with ease. However, his best trait is his speed and acceleration. A bigger power back like him doesn’t usually have the speed he does. Stupples has game changing speed to where it looks like his film is sped up and everyone else is in regular speed. This dude is shot out of a cannon and flies down the field. He takes long strides and eats up chunks of yards at a time. Every time he touched the ball last year, you were shocked if he didn’t score. He’s got the frame, the speed, the vision, and agility to feast at the next level. He’s also a patient runner when he needs to and allows his blocks to set up before he explodes through the hole. He doesn’t have any tape coming out of the backfield as a receiver or pass protection/blitz pickup but I imagine he’s more than capable. He’s a physical back and can handle his own. He jut happens to be explosive and pulls away from the field until he crosses the white stripe. Stupples is an elite back with a ton of potential and whoever gets him is going to be over the moon.

Cama’jay Terrell – Gary West Side – RB – 5’8″ 165lbs – 2023
Terrell is a shifty back who is able to make big play after big play. He’s got fantastic vision and wastes no time getting North and South. He’s got fairly good and quick feet which guide him through holes and keep him upright. He’s not someone who is going to run through a ton of tackles but he can sure make them miss in the open field. He’s great out of the backfield when needed and could be looked at as a gadget guy if needed. He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands and good things usually happen. He’s got some of the best change of direction you’ll see and a nasty spin move that gets defenders in the rinse cycle from time to time. Terrell is also someone I think could be good in the return game. He’s shifty, has great speed, and vision. He’s a smaller back so he can get lose behind the offensive linemen until he shoots out of the hole as well. He leaves his mark on Gary in impressive fashion. Rewriting the school record book is one way to go out. His 4595 rushing yards and 47 career rushing TDs both set school records and it was in impressive fashion. Wherever Terrell ends up, they’re getting a dynamic back with a ton of versatility.

Eli Carter Eli Carter 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Tipton | 2023 State IN – Tipton – RB – 5’9″ 180lbs – 2023
Carter is a creative back who is always able to squeeze every inch out of every play. He’s an electric athlete with the ball in his hands and is good at creating yardage. He’ll weave back through traffic against the grain if he has to. He’s got the speed you like to see as well and once he hits the open field he’s not being brought down. He’s able to shake anyone off of him and keep going downfield. He’s good out of the backfield and could be used as a Slotback if needed. If he were in a zone scheme at the next level, he could be as dangerous there as he is at Tipton. He’s got the vision you want and knows how to get his foot in the ground and get uphill. If he sees daylight he’s not being brought down and that’s the end of the drive. This season alone he had just under 2500 all purpose yards and 27TDs. 1500 of those yards came from the ground and he feasted all season long. He’s an explosive back with the potential to be used in multiple phases of the game. Wherever Carter ends up, there’s always that chance he develops and blossoms into the same star he is at Tipton. If that’s the case, Carter is going to be an excellent addition at the next level.

Reid Messer Reid Messer 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH North Decatur | 2023 State IN – North Decatur – RB – 6’1″ 185lbs – 2023
Messer is a dynamic back who is incredibly shifty, especially for his size, and then has great speed to match. He’s got the vision you like to see on an RB as well. He’s able to cutback and get to any gap he sees. His feet are as fast as his eyes and that’s something you can’t teach. You either got it or you don’t and Messer absolutely does. He’s able to weave through the entire defense and cut back against the grain if needed. Nothing is off limits with him and where he may go. With his size, he’s able to run through a bunch of arm tackles and pick up those extra yards. I think because he’s a bigger back defenses don’t anticipate the speed he’s got until they’re looking at the back of his jersey. Messer will also lower his shoulder and finish runs and fight for those extra yards. With a back like Messer, he could easily develop into a 3-down back down the road. He likely needs some development across the board but the raw talent and ability is there. Wherever he ends up, he’ll make an impact and I’d bet is the starter sooner rather than later.

Christian McDonald Christian McDonald 5'11" | 170 lbs | RB Owen Valley | 2023 State IN – Owen Valley – RB – 5’11” 180lbs – 2023
McDonald has to be incredibly frustrating to play against and it’s because of his versatility and what he’s able to do. He regularly comes out of the backfield and is used as a receiver. More than that, the ball is coming to him and he’ll make the play. Then, he’ll run through 50 tackles and find a way to score. He’ll run through just as many tackles from a run, but the point remains that he’s a problem with the ball in his hands. You have to tackle him and doing that has always seemed easier said than done. McDonald has an ability to run through, get out of, and break tackles in impressive fashion. A good center of gravity and churning his legs has proven to be a fantastic combination for him. He’s not a back who will make a ton of people miss, but he’ll run right through them. He’s a great straight line runner and could also be great down in the Red Zone. While there isn’t a ton of footage, he’s proven to be a good blocker in the backfield and can pick up the blitz. He’s someone who can handle his own wherever he is on the field and I anticipate that translating to the next level. McDonald is going to be a play-maker somewhere at the next level and is someone who should be watched closely over the next few months.
