Avan Jarvis
Avan Jarvis
Avan Jarvis was one of the main ball carriers for the Poplarville Hornets this year as they made a run for the State Championship. Jarvis has been excellent this year with an average of over 8 yards per carry and over 1,400 yards to his name. The way Avan carries the ball is incredibly effective as he breaks through tackles, hits the open running lanes and has the speed to take off in the open field. Jarvis has been solid as he reached the endzone 24 on an average of 120 rushing yards per game. Avan has played in some games with some big time competition signaling that he is clearly ready to compete at the next level. Due to his performance on the field this year Jarvis is considered one of the 4A Top 3 RBs.
Maurice Travis
Maurice Travis
Maurice has been the Hornet’s other main running back and another incredibly impressive running back. This season Maurice was explosive every time he got handed the ball. He averages over 11 yards a carry and over 100 yards a game which is a testament to just how explosive he can be. All these statistics are impressive but the most impressive stat is 1,400 yards rushing with 20 TDs and that is with getting half the carries. This young man is a complete running back with excellent balance and potential. His talent level and production earn him the right to be labeled as 4A Top 3 Running Back.
Ahmad Hardy
Ahmad Hardy
Ahmad Hardy was only able to play 8 games this season due to unforseen circumstances but nevertheless He was relentless with the ball in his hands. Within those 8 contests Ahmad piled up nearly 1,400 yards with an average of 175 yards per game. Furthermore, this performance is no accident as he has posted similar numbers his sophomore year as well. With an average of over 13 yards per carry Hardy has been one of the most explosive backs this season. With a full season under his belt one may wonder what his ceiling may look like. I would be willing to say that if Ahmad is able to stay healthy next season that his production will certainly be off the charts. Hardy’s level of play and effort his year granted him the award of 4A Top 3 Running Back for the 2022 season.
