Which junior QBs are having giant seasons this fall?
Prep Redzone has all the details…
Caiden Tanner – Union County
One of the more underrated quarterbacks in North Georgia, Tanner is having an excellent junior season not only throwing the ball, but running as well. He’s not a big guy at 5-foot-10 165-pounds, but he moves well in the pocket and does a good job of leading the offense and making plays from thee pocket. He loves to air it out, and he’s thrown for over 230 yards per game this year. With the regular season almost over, Tanner has thrown for 2,082 yards and 18 touchdowns with 6 INTs. He’s also rushed for just under 200 yards and has found the end-zone seven times. His best game of the season came against Providence Christian Academy where he accounted for seven touchdowns in the 56-49 victory. He threw for four touchdowns in the game and ran for another three in the big victory.
Jaiden Jenkins -St. Francis
A sleeper QB to know in North Fulton, Jenkins may be on the smaller size, but he’s got a laser for an arm. He knows how to put some zip on his passes and has grown as a quarterback the more he’s played. A strong leader with arm strength the St. Francis gunslinger is also mobile and knows how to find the end-zone with his feet. Jenkins has thrown for just over 2,00 yards this season with 17 touchdowns and just five INTs. He’s thrown for over 200 yards in six games this season and has thrown for over 300 yards in two games. His best game of the season came against Fellowship Christian where he went 17/24 with 324 yards and four touchdowns. He’s also added five rushing touchdowns on the season. More importantly, he’s led St. Francis to an impressive 6-3 season as the playoffs are right around the corner.
Jake Maxwell – Veterans
A strong-armed quarterback from Middle Georgia, the promising junior quarterback out of Kathleen has been terrific this season and has been one of the more productive passers not only in Middle Georgia, but across the 2024 class. He’s still floating under the radar, but he may not be looked at that way much longer. He has good size at 6-foot-2 175-pounds and has shown the ability to win games with his arm. Maxwell has had some monster games so far this season, throwing for over 340 yards in four games this fall. He’s had one game where he didn’t light up the state sheet and has passed for over 150 yards in every game but one. In total, he’s been 146/234 for 2,011 yards and 14 touchdowns. His biggest game came in a win over Tift County where he threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns. He’s a Middle Georgia quarterback to know in the 2024 class.
Baxter Wright – Gainesville
The Red Elephants are one of the fastest-rising programs in Georgia right now and they are ready to win big in 2022. They 9-0 on the season so far and a big reason why is because of stellar quarterback play from junior Baxter Wright. At 6-foot-2 170-pounds, Wright has been extremely accurate all season long, completing an impressive 73% of his passes. He throws a nice, catchable ball down the field and shows impressive ball placement, giving his receivers a chance to consistently make a play on the ball. He’s been a reliable pass all year long, going 130/178 for just under 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns to just four INTs. He protects the ball, distributes it well to his receivers, and plays winning football. He’s also rushed for just under 300 yards on the season with six more touchdowns. Look for him to take Gainesville deep into the playoffs later this month.
