Tony Young JR
Tony Young JR
Tony Young was an absolute stud for the Choctaws this season. It would be accurate to say that Tony was certainly a difference maker in all categories defense related. To start things off Young Jr had an incredible knack for getting to the ball and making tackles. This season he has averaged 16 tackles a game with 160 for the season and 130 of those being solo tackles. He has shown excellent pursuit angles and the ability to be a sure tackler. What is even more impressive is how often Tony Young gets into the opponent’s backfield. He has recorded 25 tackles for loss with 2 sacks to go along with his great performance this year. Tony would be a great addition to any high level collegiate team seeking a linebacker who can flow from sideline to sideline and make big time plays on a regular basis. For His performance this year Tony Young is considered one of 1A’s Top 3 Tacklers.
Ethan Wright
Ethan Wright
Ethan Wright just keeps proving how well rounded of an athlete he is with every snap this season. Wright has the ability to be extremely productive on both sides of the ball. On defense this year Wright racked up nearly 150 tackles with an average of 13.5 tackles per game. He is a fast flowing athlete who has the ability to make tackles in the open space and he isn’t afraid to challenge bigger limmen when getting off blocks. Ethan had nearly 110 solo tackles this year ensuring that each play was only successful for minimal gain. Due to his versatility Ethan Wright would be able to play a number of roles for any collagiate program and be productive there. Because of his defensive contributions to his team Wright is considered to be one of 1A’s Top 3 Tacklers
Silas Hodge
Silas Hodge
Silas may seem undersized but he certainly arose to the occasion whenever the ball was snapped. Hodge is one of those athletes with extreme twitch to him. This ability makes him almost unblockable as he can easily and speedily get past linemen to make a play on the ball. This season Silas put up nearly 14o tackles with 93 of those being solo tackles and another 9 being tackles for loss. His ability to diagnose plays and blow them up near the line of scrimmage has allowed him to be this productive this year. Hodge is another athlete that flourishes on both sides of the ball and possesses the ability to be productive at multiple positions. It will be interesting to see how he produces come his senior year and if he can match or surpass this year’s production. If so, I can certainly see at least JUCO level football in this young man’s career. Due to his production this season Hodge is considered one of 1A’s Top 3 Tacklers.
