2024 linebacker Ike Rutherford and 2023 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='262615' first='Steve' last='Simpkins'] are very active and physical tacklers. Spells leads the Green Wave in rushing yards but also is quite capable as a receiver. He showed off his talents on specials teams with an 89-yard kick return for a touchdown on Friday night. Spells has more than a half dozen scoring plays of more than 50 yards this season.

Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='262638' first='Campbell' last='McCurry'], a baseball commitment to Newberry College, continues to be a steady hand for the Green Wave. McCurry threw for more than 200 yards and three scores while adding a rushing touchdown in the win.
