He is one of the main threats on a talented Kings Mountain team that is poised to make some big-time noise in the upcoming state playoffs.
Aiken (SC) – WR Demarius Tolen – 7 catches for 170 yards and 2 Touchdowns in victory – This young man is 6’4 and 190 pounds in the Class of 2024 and I honestly think he’s a really under-recruited prospect right now – and it’s possibly because he’s just breaking onto the varsity scene, but he screams major potential to me. He is a willing blocker, can run a variety of routes, high point the football, and his size is what you want – he could project on defense, but I think offense is where his future is.
Butler – QB Zach Lawrence Zach Lawrence 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Butler | 2025 State NC – Threw big pass after big pass in the 4th quarter as a sophomore in leading the Bulldogs back in their comeback – 2 TDs in the 4th quarter – Zach is someone I’ve covered ever since the summer of him coming into high school on the camp scene. He’s been everything people said he was going to be a long time ago, and this was one of those ‘coming of age’ performances where a player steps into what’s coming for him. Very good confidence, great accuracy, and arm strength. He was already offered by Boston College and will have a bevy more coming his way before it’s over.
NW Cabarrus – QB Alex Walker – 25-28 255 yards passing and 2 touchdowns in victory – In reviewing Alex’s film, the first thing I love is his accuracy. He puts the ball consistently where only his receivers have a chance to catch it. He shows some dual-threat ability in running the ball off of scrambles and called runs, and throws very well outside of the pocket. He can stand and deliver in the pocket under the face of heavy pressure, and I think he has some very good arm strength. At 6’1, he’s a 2024 prospect that has started since his freshman year, so it’s a major plus he’s seen a lot and should be ready to go early on the next level.
Lincolnton – ATH Andrew Phelps Andrew Phelps 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Lincolnton | 2024 State NC – 125 receiving yards and a Touchdown, 1 Interception and 5 Tackles on defense in victory – Andrew is a 2024 prospect at 6’1 and 180 pounds; he has been probably the most valuable player for a Lincolnton team looking to make the playoffs this year. Andrew has some great hands and is not afraid to come up in run support from his safety position. He tackles well in space, and has shown to be a bit of a ballhawk at the safety spot with some very good ball skills. As a receiver, Andrew has shown he can high point the football, be successful in the screen game, and block well in supporting the run game.
