I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Ryan is an absolute stud on the offensive line. He has already been named 1st team all-league SPSL 2A and, to me, is poised for another all-league selection after a phenomenal year this season. The Enumclaw guard is extremely strong and it shows often when he’s pushing back the defensive lineman off his feet. Ryan’s feet are always moving forward, leading to many pancakes. Against Steilacoom he created holes for his running backs all night long and protected his quarterback very well. He’s going to be a top offensive lineman in the state next year as a senior.
Highlights
I could easily mention Danny every single week. He plays outstanding each and every week protecting his quarterback Jake Schakel Jake Schakel 6’1″ | 195 lbs | QB Emerald Ridge | 2024 State WA consistently. Week 5 against South Kitsap was no different. Meade showed off his strength, agility, and athleticism all night long. His play on the field has showed everyone he’s a top offensive lineman in the 2023 class and deserves more looks from college coaches. He held blocks extremely well in week 5, being able to keep the defensive lineman in front of him and control him with ease. His footwork is what stands out to me weekly, he’s always able to keep in position and move his feet well to stay balanced. He’s one of my favorite offensive lineman to watch.
Tyler Blevins
Tyler Blevins
Tyler has a big frame, standing 6’5″ and weighing roughly 270 pounds. He is another 2024 offensive lineman who should be one of the top players in his class. He is as strong, if not stronger, then arguably every other 2024 offensive lineman within the state. He pushes over players left and right when on the field. He’s relentless on the field too, always looking for more people to block if the play extends, This was on display against North Thurston, as he leveled a defensive player in the back field when his quarterback was rolling out. His footwork is great, moving laterally well and keeping the defensive lineman in front of him easily. He’s very agile for his size and frame, which stands out to me right away when watching his film. Yelm runs the ball quite a bit and Blevins and company has been playing outstanding.
Jojo Matautia
Jojo Matautia
Here’s an offensive lineman that should be on everyone’s radar. He’s just a sophomore, but Jojo plays extremely intelligent and strong. His footwork is good, as he is always keeping them moving to stay balanced. His hand-placement against O’Dea HS was excellent. He kept them in and right in the perfect spot to be able to push the defensive lineman off his toes. He finishes all his blocks to the whistle, which is something every offensive lineman should do every play. Matautia is going to be a force to be reckoned with for the years to come as he is only going to keep improving each year.
Zelrico Butler Jr
Zelrico Butler Jr
Zelrico has been putting in a lot of work to improve his game and it’s been showing off so far this season for the senior. During Rainier Beach’s game against Roosevelt HS, Butler was dominating all game long. He completed many different pancakes, controlling the defensive lineman whenever he felt like it. His strength shouldn’t surprise players, but he always delivers a great block knocking the opposing players off his feet. There’s not many players that get by this senior. He’s a players film I look forward to watching every week, just to see him throw multiple players around with his strength.
