Both programs have a good variety of recruits that will and could find time at the next level. A game destined to be a Division 1 battle between two solid programs lived up to expectations. Both teams played to a 14-14 tie at halftime. In the second half, neither side could do anything with their first drives of the third quarter, but while facing a third and 15 on their second drive at the Tiger 39, the panthers connected for a 61 yard touchdown to give Franklin their first lead of the game with the score being 21-14 after the PAT with 6:55 left in the quarter. From their, the Panthers grabbed full control of momentum. The Tigers tried to come back, but Franklin kept them at bay as they wound down the clock to seal their fourth win of the season 35-14. This will be a two-part series with each team’s top recruit performers seen during the game and honorable mentions of known recruits. We will begin with Taunton “Tigers”.
TOP RECRUIT PERFORMERS:
Leonard went six-of-20 for 130 yards, 110 of which came off just two passes. He appears to be able to make all the throws digs, curls, posts, fades, and comebacks. He can make throws under pressure and still deliver with accuracy. He can escape and make plays with his arm and feet. Appear in total control of the offense pre-snap and confident about his defensive reads.
“Touton has very good ball skills. He can leap with the best. He flashes ability to high point the ball or take it away from taller receivers. He can react quickly and come down hill for run support. He shows aggressive tackling form. He is willing and can deliver very physical bone crushing hits. He is fast and has loose hips to change direction. smooth back pedal was also observed.
Highlights
“Johnson” was limited with carries on offense this game. He ended the night with only five carries for 25 yards and a touchdown. However, the yeards he gained were the tough yards in short yardage red zone iso plays. He runs with his pads low to the ground and with power. He will fight through first and second contact on inside runs and was seen running over defenders or running right through them. He also shined on defense. On special teams he blocked a field goal attempt with his speed off the edge that displayed his quickness from stance. He overcomes his size deficiency with quickness, physical play and speed.
RECRUIT HONORABLE MENTIONS:
“Laplante” was not available for action for the night after sustaining a leg injury and was seen on crutches. He does have D1 offers so a review of his previous week highlight film was completed post game.
