I define superlative defensive linemen as a “Dawg”, and stellar offensive linemen as a “Hog” respectfully.
The quarterbacks, receivers, and running backs will normally always be first the ones to get most of the recognition in the press but the truth is that the “Hogs and Dawgs” are one of the most important factors to any team’s playoff hopes. The prospects listed below bring elite production, skill, and are all guys to keep an eye on.
HOGS TO WATCH
Drew Perez – Southlake High- Class of 2023
Drew is a 6’8 330 pound mountain of a offensive tackle that been impressive on film through the first 8 weeks of the season. The Colorado commit has played big and has noticeably improved his technique and body control since the summer. What stood out the most was his strain to finish on his backside double teams along with his improved redirection skills and refit for hand control. His ability to bend and maintain and sustain his base blocks has been great and will need to continue to be a strong point of his game as the playoffs approach.

Jack made his initial debut in PrepRedzone rankings as the 6th best offensive linemen in the state and number 46 player overall regardless of position and he has lived up to the hype. He has played good football with his insteps in the ground and been impressive with his strain to finish and has strung together a bevy of solid performances.
He’s picked up scholarship offers from Tulane, UNT, and recently took an unofficial game day visit to Vanderbilt university where he reportedly had a great time and enjoyed the campus.
