As we head into a new season of youth and middle school football around the country, below is a look at some class of 2027 prospects (athletes beginning their eighth-grade school year) that have come across my desk. As football recruiting and evaluating continues to change, the eighth-grade season is becoming a pivotal time for young athletes to garner early attention from Universities. Here’s a look at some prospects that are on the trajectory to be playing a high level of football for years to come.
Coming out of one of the most talent-rich areas of Alabama, Jordan is already proving that he has the potential to be a top prospect coming out of The Yellow Hammer State in the future. As a running back, Jordan does a great job using his size to power through would-be tacklers as he finds his way to the endzone. In space, Jordan makes it hard to go down as he uses his speed and agility to get around second-level defenders, making him an absolute force on the field. After reviewing the film he has produced, it is clear that it shouldn’t be long until Jordan becomes one of the top names in the 2027 recruiting class in Alabama high school football. I am expecting Jordan to have a very bright future and football career.
Talented Quarterbacks are always fun to watch, they are also hard to come by as prospects progress through the various tiers of football. Jaidan is clearly a very talented quarterback coming out of the Jacksonville area, in the very talented state of Florida. After reviewing some of this film, several key attributes make Jaidan a promising quarterback in the class of 2027. The most impressive ability that Jaidan possesses, is the ability to throw on the move. He is smooth on the run and places the ball very well while rolling out of the pocket, something most quarterbacks can’t do until they are well into their high school careers. Additionally, Jaidan has a knack for placing the ball in tight windows, while dropping back in the pocket. Whether it is quick game or drop back Jaidan can accurately place a ball for his receivers to make the catch and run without stopping or slowing down. Jaidan has a lot of promising pieces to his game already, and further development should be fun to watch.
Gideon is another talented arm coming out of the state of South Carolina. Throughout his highlight tapes, Gideon displays his arm talent by throwing accurately placed vertical rights time and time again. Gideon is also a great improviser, proving it through his ability to escape pressure and find a way to get the ball moving forward, rather than taking a sack in the backfield. He also runs the ball well and has no problem using a zone-read scheme to allow him to work as a runner downfield. Gideon has developed a very unique skill set so far and seems to have a very high ceiling this early on in his career. College coaches around the country should begin to take note of this kid, as they develop their future recruiting boards.
Savoy is a defensive back coming out of the talented, and competitive, state of Louisiana. The first thing that jumped out to me as I reviewed his film is that Savoy has a knack for finding football. Whether he is in coverage, or fitting in on the run, Savoy always manages to be in on the play. Unlike other corners at this level, he does a nice job of mixing finesse and aggression at the poistion. Savoy has no problem high-pointing passes to make a play on them, but also does a great job of driving on short routes to keep the receiver from gaining any yards after the catch. In the run fit, Savoy has no qualms with getting into the mix on the ball carrier and will try to get that ball out if he has a chance to. After reviewing Savoy’s film, it is clear that he has a lot potential to be one of the more talented corners in his class.
Highlights
Maverick is a versatile running athlete who performs at a high level in both the slot and out of the backfield. At the slot, Maverick runs crisp routes and has sure hands when the ball is thrown his way. Out of the backfield, Maverick is one of the more patient backs that I have seen out of this class. He does a phenomenal job allowing plays and blocks to happen in front of him before making his cuts through the line of scrimmage. As a ball carrier, Maverick runs with great balance and vision that keeps him from being tackled after the first hit. Maverick has developed a versatile set of skills early on in his career, which should help him see the field early in high school, in various personnel packages.
Braden is a unique two-way player with next-level speed and explosion. On the offensive side of the ball, Braden can play out of the slot or in the backfield. This season, on a loaded Tupelo Middle School team that also includes prospects Kylan Bobo Kylan Bobo 5’11” | 180 lbs | RB Tupelo | 2027 State MS , Zac Zimmerman Zac Zimmerman 6’0″ | 160 lbs | QB MS , Tre McCoy Tre McCoy 6’0″ | 170 lbs | LB MS and countless others, he’s been the Bell Cow back. Braden creates problems for defenses when he has the ball in his hand because, more often than not, he is one of the fastest player on the field. His speed, coupled with his size, makes Jaden turn into a touchdown machine when he is on the field, and as of this evaluation he leads the team with seven touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Jaden plays well off the edge of the box. His speed and athleticism make it difficult for any running back or quarterback to avoid him when they have the ball in his hand. Grove has the potential to be one of Mississippi’s top prospects in the class of 2027.
