Ty Davis can really spin it and hit most throws that need to be made by a reliable quarterback. His 2300 yards, 24 Tds, and 69% completion percentage statistically relay exactly what I mean. Ty Davis has a quick processor when it relates to the game and reading coverage, which makes it easy for him to pick out receivers to dime up, consistently. Ty can make throws on or off platform, but he often always get his feet under him before he get the ball out. Timing throws, throws in windows, over the shoulder, deep balls; Davis has all of these types of throw options available in his arsenal, it’s pick your poison with this kid. Ty takes what you give him and takes his shots when they are there. These thoughts are essential hard-wiring to the main-frame of young quarterbacks, simply put, he gets it. Davis is a smart quarterback, with exceptional arm talent, but he has an even better ability to command an offense and lead a team. He is one of many reasons the Itawamba Indians have fought their way to a 9-0 season so far. Ty Davis just seems to do everything in his power to help his team win, similar to Derek Carr of the Las Vegas Raiders. Both of these guys seamlessly. figure out ways to win and lead, while making the guys around them better.
Tristan Jernigan Tristan Jernigan 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Tupelo | 2024 State MS | 2024 LB | Tupelo | 6’2 220lbs
Tristan Jernigan Tristan Jernigan 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Tupelo | 2024 State MS is the high school version of respected NFL linebacker, Kwon Alexander. I compared their playing styles, builds, and even their approach to the game . All of the attributes and components of their games align with one another. First off, I noticed the similarity in their motors. They’re analogous in terms of build as well, both standing a touch above 6’1, roughly 220lbs. Kwon and Tristan have a comparable combination of speed and strength. Each of them can run and move around the field like a fox. Tristan is a natural tackler with tremendous closing speed and a lazer focus when corralling ball carriers. The most noticeable part of Jernigan’s game, that reminded me of Kwon’s, was his effectiveness on blitzes and delayed blitzes. Tristan’s speed, motor, and instincts all kick in when he is sent on a blitz, assigned to mirror the QB, or on plays that are extended. As a junior, Tristan Jernigan Tristan Jernigan 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Tupelo | 2024 State MS has a high ceiling; he is making the most of his opportunities in his money year (junior year), as he should. I’m looking forward to seeing what his career holds in the future.
DT Lanier | 2023 DT | Newton | 6’0 260lbs
Grady Jarrett of the Atlanta falcons was the closest comparison that I’ve formulated after viewing DT Lanier tape. They both have similar builds and similar playing styles from a technical standpoint as well as physicality. In the trenches, he is a slightly undersized defensive tackle that uses his athleticism and leverage to defeat his opponents. His get-off, knock back, and hands are all purposeful and violent, and they’re all effective against larger and smaller offensive linemen at the point of attack. Lanier also understands blocking schemes well, which allows him to be a constant threat to penetrate the offensive line for tackles for losses. DT is a seasoned defender on the defensive unit. He is having another solid season this year after totaling 90+ tackles as a Junior last year. This comparison was fun to assess. Grady Jarrett is one of the better, underrated defensive linemen in the league and that is another similarity for Mr.Lanier as well.
Hayden Dozier Hayden Dozier 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Amory Mississippi | 2023 State MS | 2023 OL | Amory | 6’3 295 lbs
Hayden Dozier Hayden Dozier 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Amory Mississippi | 2023 State MS out of Amory, MS is one of the most complete offensive linemen coming out of his class in the state of Mississippi. He is a kid that any OL coach would want in his position group. Dozier is a technician, it is a joy to watch his tape. His pass sets are just as polished as his play in the run game. He looks comfortable changing from kicking to posting out of his set, even against athletic pass rushers. He has exceptional bend at 6’3.5 295, and he can also move well when pulling or in space. Hayden’s quick first step is something that he’s developed this year, and he understands what leverage can do for you if you play with it consistently. Hayden is a violent finisher of blocks that has great grip strength. On tape, he moves linebackers with a single stab at them on several occasions. I would compare Hayden Dozier Hayden Dozier 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Amory Mississippi | 2023 State MS to Joe Thuney of the Kansas City Chiefs. I did so in regards to their games both being so technically sound, and both of them being silent killers.
Zack Evans Zack Evans 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Warren Central | 2024 State MS | 2024 ATH | Warren Central | 5’11 160lbs
Mr. Evan’s game is looking very familiar the more I view his tape. Zack is an athlete with deceptive speed and the natural ability to turn that speed on when he needs it. This kid is a natural play-maker that is willing to do the dirty work between the lines in order to help his team win. He has just as much film on offense as he does defense, but I see him playing wide out at the next level. Zack runs crisp and concise routes that are purposefully tailored to his skill-set. With that being said, I would compare Zack Evans Zack Evans 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Warren Central | 2024 State MS to young play-maker for the Commanders, Terry McLaurin. The anticipatory aspect of his game is where Zack Evans Zack Evans 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Warren Central | 2024 State MS is in his comfort zone. He is a smart football player that see’s things play out in his head before they happen.
Jordan McKnight | 2023 WR | Northside | 6’4 190lbs
Jordan McKnight out of Northside is a young wide out that checks a lot of boxes as wide-receiver prospect. He has length with speed to go along with it. His hands are reliable, He route-runs with a calm, yet explosive nature that is beautiful to behold. Jordan has the big play capability to take a slant the distance on any given occasion. He also can go up top and secure goal line fades when the opportunity presents itself. This kid is a do it all wide-out with tons of upside. His full potential is untapped and will be brought into its fullness if he attends the right school with the right program. My comparison to this guy would have to be Mike Williams Mike Williams 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Natchez | 2023 State MS of the Los Angeles Chargers. Long and rangy receivers with a bag that can also fly.
