Continue ReadingFootball season is one of my favorite times of the year. However, you blink, and the season is almost over. This week we are going to look at the Nashville-Ashdown matchup. Historically, this is one of the best matchups in the state of Arkansas, almost every season. We are going to take a look at the teams and a few players from each team to get us ready for a Friday night of action.
Nashville Scrappers
The Nashville Scrappers enters the contest this week with a 4-2 record on the season. Nashville put 40 points in a victory over Mena last Friday night. Nashville has racked up impressive victories this season with wins over Charleston and Hope over the past few weeks. The matchup with Ashdown this Friday will have playoff implications on the line for both teams. Expect a hard-hitting, physical contest between Nashville and Ashdown. I expect this game to be a close one this week. Here are some Nashville prospects to watch this Friday night.
Sloan Perrin Sloan Perrin 5'11" | QB Nashville | 2023 State AR -Quarterback-Nashville-2023
Nashville signal caller Sloan Perrin Sloan Perrin 5'11" | QB Nashville | 2023 State AR is a talented quarterback. He runs the Nashville offense in an extremely effective manner. He is a dangerous runner that is averaging 117 yards per game on the ground this season. Perrin has also found the end zone eight times this season and will likely rack up some more over the next few weeks. Perrin is a prospect that has the chance to have a big Friday night this week.
Tre Hopkins Tre Hopkins 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Nashville | 2024 State AR -Running Back-Nashville-2024
The Scrappers have an effective one-two punch in Sloan Perrin Sloan Perrin 5'11" | QB Nashville | 2023 State AR and Tre Hopkins Tre Hopkins 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Nashville | 2024 State AR . Hopkins works effectively at the running back and wide receiver positions. He has found the end zone nine times on the season. Hopkins will look to cause the Panthers’ defense problems on Friday night. Hopkins is having a strong season for Nashville, and it would not shock me to see him earn some all-conference honors this season.
Ashdown Panthers
Ashdown is having another strong season this season. The Panthers enter the matchup with Nashville with a 5-1 record on the season. However, Ashdown is going to be looking to get the momentum rolling again this week after a tough loss to Malvern last week. With playoff positioning on the line this week, folks can expect a tough contest between the two teams. Here are some Ashdown prospects to keep an eye on this Friday night.
Shamar Easter Shamar Easter 6'5" | 205 lbs | TE Ashdown | 2023 State AR -Tight End-Ashdown-2023
Shamar Easter Shamar Easter 6'5" | 205 lbs | TE Ashdown | 2023 State AR is one of the most talented tight end prospects that the state of Arkansas has produced in some time. Easter is an effective blocker and a dangerous receiver. He is an athletic tight end that has no problem using his size and athletic ability to highpoint the football. Keep an eye on the future Arkansas Razorback this Friday night. He could have a big game for the Panthers on Friday night.
Jonathan McElroy Jonathan McElroy 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Ashdown | 2023 State AR -Quarterback-Ashdown-2023
The Ashdown signal caller is dangerous for opposing defenses to contain. He is effective throwing the football and using his legs to pick up yards. McElroy throws an accurate football and does a good job of fitting the ball into his receivers. When he runs, he is quick enough to make a cut and leave opposing defenders behind him. McElroy has the potential to have a big night on Friday. This game should be a great one and I expect some big performances.
