Defensive linemen are often entangled with offensive linemen and defensive back’s primary job is to cover. A linebacker’s job is to tackle. If you can’t do that, then you aren’t a linebacker. Nice form tackles, aggressive tackles with technique are the beef in your taco when it comes to a highlight video. These recruits are getting a head start with solid tackles on film early and often. Football is an aggressive game and as such, it grabs the attention of college coaches and evaluators.
“Kolifrath” is a shorter LB with a physical mentality. He has compiled 59 solo tackles along with 7 assisted tackles for a total of 66 tackles in 5 games. He reads quickly and responds quickly. He fills nicely to control his gap responsibility. He takes very good angle pursuit on outside perimeter runs. Shows a bit of nastiness when tackling. He can move the pile indicating good lower body/hip explosion strength. He is always moving his feet and has good speed to handle the perimeter. “Terrell” is a very athletic LB who who can also play multiple positions on offense and defense if needed. At the LB position he has compiled 26 solo tackles along with 29 assisted tackles for a total of 55 tackles in 4 games. He shows the desire to be physical. He reacts very quickly and aggressive while plugging gaps. He is always looking to strip the football while making the tackle. He has very good size and appears lean and muscular. “St. George” is a relentless LB with a motor. This year he has compiled 68 solo tackles in 5 games. He appears hard nosed and tough on film. He shows he understands pursuit angles and can close time and space in an instant. He has flexibility that allows him to recover and still make a play if he over pursues. “Holcomb” creates havoc on opponent offenses. He uses great awareness to see the play and then react quickly. Evaluating his 2021 film where he delivered 53 total tackles and 32 assisted tackles for a total of 85 tackles in 10 games, showed he is only warming up. “ Will Gomes Will Gomes 6’0″ | LB Berlin H.S. CT. | 2023 State New E ” is creating havoc on opponent offenses. He currently has 34 solo tackles with 23 assisted tackles for a total of 57 tackles in 5 games. He plugs the gaps with force. He can get off blocks quickly with his feet and hands. He has the strength to move the pile and finish the play. He is a reliable tackler that doesn’t allow the ball carrier to get away once he gets his hands on them.
