The leader of an Estill team primed to compete for a Class 1A state title this November, Xaviar Garvin delivered another exceptional outing on Friday. The junior was remarkably efficient through the air, completing 14 of 17 passes for 236 yards and five touchdowns. He was also lethal on the ground with 74 rushing yards on just six carries. A terrific athlete who can take what the defense gives him and execute in the biggest moments, Garvin has all the tools and confidence to lead the Estill Gators on a memorable journey this November.
Jaiden Jones
Jaiden Jones
The sparkplug of a dynamite May River rushing attack, Jaiden Jones dominated on the ground Friday in a key region win over Colleton County. The senior and recently named Touchstone Energy Cooperatives bowl participant ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries while adding a tackle and sack on defense. His tenacious energy on the field has been instrumental for a May River team that has the talent and experience to surprise in the postseason. He’ll need to be on his best game Friday in a rivalry showdown with Bluffton.
Hilton Head’s defensive anchor gave it his all on Friday and nearly led his team to a road upset over Lucy Beckham. The senior and Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas invitee was a force on the line, posting 10 tackles including six solo stops and three behind the line of scrimmage. Chris Marable Chris Marable 6’4″ | 280 lbs | DL Hilton Head | 2023 State SC is a master run-stuffer and has the size and athleticism to wreak havoc in the backfield. His presence will be critical for a Hilton Head defense with the talent to pull off an upset against Region 7-4A leader James Island.
A lethal playmaker with the ball in his hands, Zion Dobson Zion Dobson 5’10” | 175 lbs | RB Hampton County | 2024 State SC continued his strong season with Wade Hampton on Friday. Dobson excelled on the ground against an elite Woodland defense, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. His quick feet and excellent balance have allowed him to zoom through open running lanes and make tacklers miss. An explosive back with the ability to make plays in the open space and thrive as a pass catcher, Dobson will need to produce in big spots for the Red Devils to make a run this postseason.
Highlights
Christian Tilton
Christian Tilton
Christian Tilton is becoming a budding star at John Paul II, and he came up aces again in a methodical win over Northwood Academy. The junior quarterback showed off his electric running again, racking up 185 yards and three scores on just eight carries while completing 3-of-5 passes for 92 additional yards. His speed to the outside is difficult to contain and has the power to shake off tacklers. If he can improve his ability to hit the deep pass and make good decisions under pressure, Tilton could be a force in the latter stages of his SCISA career.
Tucker Tevepaugh
Tucker Tevepaugh
One of the most underrated transfers to come to the Lowcountry area this year, Tucker Tevepaugh has shined with his versatility for Hilton Head Christian Academy. Stepping into a big role on defense, Tevepaugh delivered a key play against Pee Dee on Friday, returning an interception for a score to bring his team back in the game. He doubles as a quality punter for the Eagles averaging 35.5 yards on two attempts. A phenomenal hustle player on defense with the ability to flip the field position with his legs, Tevepaugh will be an invaluable component for Ron Peduzzi’s Eagles down the stretch.
