Hoffmann has been someone who I have been keeping an eye on him since way before the season started and this week I like what he will be facing overall. The defense he will be facing in Aberdeen Central can have issues having big-body tight ends come out over the middle and can find holes over the middle. He can exploit the ability in defenses that do not see him as a threat as the other option on his team and uses this to make the most of it. Especially with some players in the running game out, this will make his role even more critical for having such a lethal offensive weapon like him in the field. Hoffmann will be a player that will look to feast on some of the opportunities that his team will give along with his opponent, making him someone I am very high on going into Friday with the matchups he will be getting into.
Braeden Wulf Braeden Wulf 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Lennox | 2023 State – QB, Lennox
Watch out for Wulf this week since I see him doing one thing and that is cooking anyone that comes in his way of throwing the football. Wulf and Lennox as a whole will be facing the tough team in Madison but one area where they do have a hole in their secondary that can be exploited with elite passing. Madison has had their issues defending the deep ball and that is where Wulf can beat you at pretty much all times and that is what I see him doing this game. he has shown time and time again to launch passes deep with some great accuracy to his receivers. Wulf can do some serious damage with his skills as a dual-threat QB who can maneuver around the pocket and he will face some major pressure with a tough pass rush that Madison has. Wulf has been known to pick on secondaries that have issues with the deep ball and I see this as no different, making him someone I’m high on going into his game.
Jack Detert Jack Detert 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Harrisburg | 2023 State – LB, Harrisburg
Detert is one of the most slept-on players defensively in South Dakota and I do not see why people are sleeping on this talented of a player. With a tough run defense that he’ll be going up against in Rapid City Central, Detert will be showing what he has in full force and I see him having a great game. Detert has shown throughout this year that he can stop the run and not only disrupt it to the point where teams will lose faith in it. Put simply, Detert is a deflator and can suck the life along with momentum that the other team might have, and having that trait is one of the most important features of an LB. I think we will see him lay the smackdown on anyone who comes his way, laying down some big hits and bigger plays, not to mention a turnover or two. Detert will be laying it all out on the field and I will be looking to see it, and you should see too how talented this kid is when he is in the zone.
Gabe Gutierrez Gabe Gutierrez 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2023 State – LB, Sioux Falls Lincoln
Gutierrez will be facing no easy task in Brandon Valley but do not sleep on what he can when he is locked in, making him someone that Brandon Valley. Gutierrez will be facing no easy task in a tough passing attack that will try to exploit him in certain ways but I do not see that happening. Gutierrez is a very versatile LB who can do everything like giving some pass rush that can force bad passes or being the one who can defend receivers overall. Where he matches up well overall is his ability to use strength to lay down some big hits and be an imposing payer on the field overall. His team will look to him to be the defensive beast that he usually is and while he will be facing some tough opponents, I have faith that he will ball out like he usually does.
