Last week our top games started with Battle Creek at Norfolk Catholic. Both teams have been solid this season and I was expecting this game to be a pretty big back and forth. That’s how it was for the first half with no team scoring at all until the second quarter. Battle Creek would get onto the board after the half but Norfolk Catholic’s defense held strong and their offense was too much for the Braves. The Knights would win 28-7. Our next game was between Grand Island and Kearney which was a fun game. The game was a big deal filling and it felt like everyone in both towns was there. Grand Island would score quickly and the game would be back and forth the entire time. Grand Island would then pull off the upset 28-21. Check out my report on that matchup for more details. Our final game was the definition of a thriller between Bellevue West and Gretna. Gretna would start off hot going on a 14-0 run. Then the Thunderbirds did their thing and held off the Dragons offense scoring 30 unanswered points. Everyone thought it was over once it Bellevue West scored again going up 37-14. Then the Dragons awoke scoring 26 unanswered back all within the Fourth Quarter and the Dragons would win on a last second field goal winning 40-37. After an onside kick and two two point conversions.
