After having a year to remember, Sioux Falls Jefferson came out ready to play and they sure showed every single snap of this game. Watching it happen in person, it seem like Sioux Falls Jefferson was playing like they will never play another game ever again and this will be their last. Every single facet of their production was playing at a high level, from special teams, offense, and defense, no one looked like there were not locked in at every single snap. Sioux Falls Jefferson had a historic season to remember and moving on to the next round is just another chapter in their book of greatness this year.
There was not much fault I could see in Jefferson tonight, and it was so very impressive to see it happen in action. Taylen Ashley Taylen Ashley 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State played like his usual self and was spreading the rock around all night to all of his players. The story of tonight was how well they got the running game going with Ashley and Nelson Wright Nelson Wright 5'9" | 200 lbs | RB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State being able to kickstart it to lead them to victory. They were able to set up play action and get into the secondary early to launch some passes downfield to get set up in the red zone more often than not. The defense deserves just as much credit compared to anyone else, they had only allowed 7 total points all night and this was a key part of setting up their offense for victory. They had forced turnovers and made Washington take some passes that they might not have wanted to and it allowed Jefferson to dominate all aspects of this game. The special teams were also unsung heroes for the team, making some key stops on the kickoffs to make the Warriors have some less-than-ideal field position, and have them punt most of the game. Jefferson came out with the best punch and they hit, let’s see if they can keep this rolling.
While Washington had the night that they might not have wanted to have, it was no fault of their own overall. They had to play a buzzsaw in Jefferson that was looking to come out and play with brute force and they had to be that team to lose. Make no mistake, there was not a single time in this game where every single player on the Washington team was not playing as hard as they could. They were playing with all-out effort and even when they were facing odds that they could not come back from, all of them played with a high level of heart and I loved to see it. They were great spots and even better competitors, I am very impressed with the level of maturity that I saw with this team and I would like to say that they have some very talented players on this team that also really show up too. They were always competitive and not a single playing with a bad attitude, it was just great to see and college coaches would love to have them on their teams. Players that really played their hearts were Abraham Myers Abraham Myers 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Sioux Falls Washington | 2023 State and Mason Wilson Mason Wilson LB Sioux Falls Washington | 2024 State SD were leaders on and off the field tonight, I would like to highlight them for how they acted with respect and also player great, props to them.
Great game overall, and Jefferson will be looking to next week for their next win, good luck to them.
