A high school program’s long-term success is rooted in and based off of how they can develop the young guys in their programs. Coppell and Marcus both had a bevy of talented guys on both sides of the football and on all levels and the future is bright for both programs.
Omarion Mbakwe – Coppell High – Class of 2025
Omarion is an explosive 5’10 190 pound running back / wide receiver out of Coppell Texas that has been a workhorse for them this fall. His game gets more impressive every time that I see him in person. He is patient, strong, fast, and explosive in and out of his breaks and has elite burst. He was hard to tackle and hit some great runs down the teeth of Marcus on the night. When I watch and evaluate young running backs most of them like to dance and juke around without getting vertical and pressing the line of scrimmage but Omarion hits his zone and gap runs with speed through the hole. Attached below is an example of his patience and explosion and a rep that helped blow the game open for them.
Edward Griffin – Coppell High – Class of 2025
Edward is a 6’1 185-pound Quarterback out of Coppell that is a certified gamer and field general.
He has impressed me with his poise consistency, and resolve through the four games that I have seen him in person for so far this fall. He has a strong arm, takes care of the football, steps up in the pocket and hasn’t gotten rattled after taking some big hits. He has played very consistently all year and put up 4 touchdowns this week against Marcus to go along with 238 all purpose yards from scrimmage.
Andrew Gross – Coppell High school – Class of 2025
Andrew is a 6’3 and 260-pound sophomore that has played big for the Cowboys this fall. He has a great baseline of technique and has set the tone with his physicality this fall. What impressed me the most about him this week was his strain to finish, Marcus had a talented and strong defensive front that he battled it out with all night. Attached below is what I thought the highlight of the night was. He executed a perfect “Hi gallop” technique and banged the hip of the defender to create a rushing lane for Omarion to hit the run down the teeth of the defense.
Travis Moore – Marcus High School – Class of 2025
Travis is a 6’1 250 pound offensive linemen out of Marcus that was impressive with his technique and body control. From seeing his game in the early summer until now he has drastically improved his technique and body composition. He won most of his match ups and did a good job with his cut offs on the backside of their inside zone.
