Weber Warriors
The Warriors came into Friday’s matchup against the Royals 3-8 on the season. Roy, on the other hand, was 7-4, but that’s what makes the high school playoffs so great; it all comes down to those 48 minutes. Warriors quarterback Aidan Carter tossed two touchdown passes to help Weber hold a 17-14 lead going into the break. In the second half, receiver Sales Moa scored two touchdowns to help power Weber to the 31-14 upset win. The Warriors dense shut out the Roy offense in the second half, allowing them to keep their season alive with the upset victory.
Fremont Silverwolves
The Silverwolves jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter against Granger and never looked back. Fremont scored in every quarter to help them get the road upset 23-13. Kicker Dax Iverson had ice in his veins, drilling three field goals with one of them as far out as 47 yards. Linebacker Christian Blanch Christian Blanch 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Fremont | 2023 State UT and the Silverwolve’s defense allowed just two touchdowns as they stifled the Granger offense. Fremont quarterback Slade Parker delivered timely throws and guided the Silverwolve’s offense to a productive day.
Layton Lancers
The Lancer’s defense was lights out as they defended home field and beat Herriman 36-14. Layton turned the Mustangs over a whopping seven times as their defense outscored the Mustang’s offense 21-14. defensive backs Jaxson Henderson, Elias Parkinson, and Teague Farr all had pick-sixes in the Lancer’s impressive win. Parkinson also scored two touchdowns on offense connecting with quarterback Tyler Wensel in Layton’s big win.
Mountain Ridge Sentinels
The first meeting between the Sentinels and Westlake Thunder was an eclectic affair that resulted in a double-overtime thriller. The Thunder came out on top and, despite coming into the playoffs with a losing record, were 3-0 in their last three round one playoff matchups. It was another great game, but in the end, the Sentinels secured the 28-25 win. Mountain Ridge quarterback Jaxson Reiser scored three touchdowns to help his team advance to the second round.
