The 5A division is make or break this week in my opinion. I think that this is another mock “conference championship” style game that has all of the hype around it. I look forward to both offenses firing off on all cylinders, but. I think one of the others defenses will be what makes the game electric.
The Senators are coming into the game siting 6-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play. They have many many bright spots along the way this season. I think that this Robinson team is one of the better teams they’ve had in a long time because of all of the talent on that team. On of the leaders on the Robinson sideline Friday night, I think, will be Noah Freeman Noah Freeman 5'7" | 185 lbs | RB Joe T. Robinson | 2023 State AR . I think his ability to run the ball against solid teams so far this season will eat up the Mills defense. If Mills can slow the run down, I think they have the game sealed, but if not, Robinson walks away with a great program win.
The only way to have a solid rushing attack, is to have a solid offensive line and that’s what the Senators have. The ability to open holes up for Freeman. The only down side to the line for Robinson is they aren’t the most physical, but they a technically sound. One of the more impactful lineman on the Senator o-line is most defiantly Micah Pennington. He’s got good hands and some power that helps him finish the blocks that he starts and he knows hoe to impose his will whenever he needs to.
Overall I think some other guys need to step up on Friday night. I think if the offense can fire off and both sides of the ball can be consistent and not have as many penalties, I think the Senators have a shot at winning this game.
As for the Mills Comets, the team is loaded with some highly efficient players. On defensive you have a solid line that’s able to make big time plays and able to hold their gaps and work off of blockers efficiently. Now on the offensive line, I look to Charleston Collins Charleston Collins 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Little Rock Mills | 2024 State AR to lead the Mills defense against a solid Robinson line. I think Collins will have a solid game this Friday and is on the hunt or some more big time plays.
In the secondary for the Comets, one of the guys that has impressed me so far this season is Anton Pierce Anton Pierce 6'3" | 205 lbs | DB Little Rock Mills | 2023 State AR . Pierce can play both ways on the field. At defensive back he’s a great athlete with some fantastic length to him. He has all of the tangibles to make a great defensive back. He also can line up at the receiver position. At either position he is great at but overall, I look for him to make plays on both sides of the ball/
On offense for the Comets, I’m watching Chishaun McGehee. McGehee has great footwork with his quicksteps and run blocking. I think that if success is to be found the entire offensive line must step up. The offensive line for the Mills is pretty solid as it is, but, the Robinson Senators look to be solid on the Defensive side of the ball as well.
When it all boils down to who will possibly win, I think that if either team wants to pull it out they can. Two key things must take place for either team to win. Both teams must effectively rush the ball for over 100 yards and the defense must be sound up front and in the box play. If either team does those two important things, the game is theirs.
