New to the California rankings after transferring to Los Alamitos from Georgia but is already established as one of the top if not the top DL recruits in the country currently holding 59 total offers. At 6’6” 295 lbs. he already has ideal size, length, and frame that colleges and beyond look for in an interior DL. Possesses a rare skillset for his size and age with elite level athleticism, explosion, and body control. He’s violent at the POA capable of overpowering most of his opponents using leverage and natural strength to quickly gain penetration and disrupt plays at or behind the LOS. Excellent hand usage and quickness to extend and maintain separation from blockers while diagnosing run/pass. Also has a brother who is a 2027 recruit that already boasts 13 offers.
Highlights
Bachhuber checks a lot of boxes as a major D1 DL prospect with his combination of size and athleticism. At 6’5” 255 lbs. he’s got a well-balanced frame with good weight distribution and room the add to his frame. He shows good versatility and positional flexibility being effective on both sides of the line. Strong at the contact point, he’s got a hard initial punch and shows he can stop and stack. A plus athlete that can run and redirect in pursuit, he’s a high effort player that consistently makes second level and backside tackles. Very physically imposing and can dominate both sides of the LOS. Recruiting took off in the summer when he collected six offers from San Jose State, ASU, Utah, Colorado State, Washington, and Colorado.
Massive size and frame at 6’2” 300 lbs. At his size, he’s a good athlete with natural movement skills. Projects as an interior defensive linemen at the college level but shows good ability at multiple positions on either side of the line. He’s got two gap ability and is equally effective as a run stopper and pass rusher. Pursues both the ball carrier and QB hard showing good short area burst and lateral quickness to close space. Uses his natural strength to control blockers and then disengage to free himself up to make a tackle. He’s a body tackler that explodes on contact and finishes to the ground with aggression. Holds two PAC12 offers thus far from Arizona and Washington State but expect his recruiting stock on the rise as the recruiting cycle progresses.
Johnson is the top ranked 2024 defensive lineman in northern California at 6’5” 320 lbs. Excellent athlete at this size that explodes off the ball with great initial quickness and a fast first step to beat blockers to the spot and gain positional leverage. He’s got great contact balance and leg drive at the POA to overwhelm opponents. Flashes good bend and flexibility in the lower half out of his stance. Plus short area quickness and lateral agility to chase in pursuit. Love his ability to disengage from blockers and quickly locate the ball carrier. Recruiting stock has skyrocketed this summer pulling in nine D1 offers, eight of which are power 5. Oregon State, Miami, and Colorado have all offered this month with many more on the way with his combination of size, strength, and athleticism.
