Van Weber Van Weber 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Rutherford | 2023 State NJ , Rutherford
Highlights
One of the most accurate quarterbacks in the state still remains without an offer. Having a spectacular season throwing no interceptions on the year. Weber has 991 yards on 93 attempts with 17 touchdowns. A passer rating of 144.3 and his team is undefeated. Coaches and recruiters had questions about his size in terms of weight. He packed on some mass and still threw with that same accuracy, it’s a head-scratcher as to why he doesn’t have an offer yet.
Mathew Yascko Mathew Yascko 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Edison | 2023 State NJ , Edison
Highlights
One of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the state remains without an offer. Yasko can make crucial throws and has the poise of a seasoned senior quarterback.
Generously listed at 5’10 Yasko’s size remains a question mark to scouts and recruiters. While his size is in question, the tape says that Yascko is a dynamic player who can complete passes deep down the field, execute read-option plays, be a threat in the running game, take care of the football and make smart decisions. Yascko has had a solid season thus far scoring 13 total touchdowns with a 90.2 quarterback rating for the year according to Max Preps.
Frankie Farmer Frankie Farmer 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Peddie | 2023 State NJ , The Peddie School
Highlights
Farmer’s case is different because he holds two offers from DIII colleges (Wilkes and Thiel College). Farmer has had a solid year thus far, on pace to break his passing touchdowns total from last year but has a lower quarterback rating from last year due to an increase in turnovers.
Farmer has good size at 6’3 220 with some mobility. He may not be the high-end athlete that the position requires these days for the division one level, but he can manage an offense and can make accurate throws under duress. Farmer has the size profile that coaches love and we have no doubt he’ll find a home soon. He has also been in contact with Muhlenberg and Hobart colleges.
Brevin Cooney Brevin Cooney 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Ridgefield Park | 2023 State NJ , Ridgefield Park
Highlights
Cooney is another dual-threat quarterback who can make plays out of structure. Where Cooney stands out with his ability to attack and take advantage of the middle of the field on the intermediate level. Cooney is a 4-year varsity starter who can extend plays, and while his game is suited for today’s football landscape he’s on the smaller side of 6’1 170 and has to be more accurate with the football. Cooney has tools a coach can work with he just needs a shot.
Riley Gunnels Riley Gunnels 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Ocean City | 2023 State NJ , Ocean City
This is one of the more puzzling recruitments in the 2023 class. While Riley’s numbers aren’t gaudy he does have some impressive throws and movement skills on tape, which would make coaches rewind. At 6’4 215lbs, those measurables would be enough for an FCS coach to say they would take a chance and mold him into a capable college stater. Maybe, not wanting to buy into his body of work, but rather sell yourself on his traits and what you could shape him into.
