Bennett Dannenbring Bennett Dannenbring 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB SF O'Gorman | 2023 State – QB, O’Gorman
Dannenbring was simply electric to watch in this game tonight in a tough loss that his team suffered but you can see just how dang well played. Dannenrbing had a 50% completion rate overall on his total of 42 passes and that is just the tip of the ice berg with how well he did in this game. To start, he had a total of a whopping 468 passing yards, how he did that was simply using all of his reads to his advantage and was airing the ball out at all opportunities that he could. Dannenbring did not face much in the terms of players getting to him in the backfield and he took that to his advantage and found weakness in the defense that he was facing and exploited that for a great offensive output that he put out. He had a total of 5 passing touchdowns to go along with it and had his longest pass of the night go for a total of 85 yards, making his arm work for those deep passes in his game on Friday. You cannot say that Dannenbring did not go out there and leave everything that he had left in the tank on the field because that is what he did and anyone watching the game saw that too, truly an electric performance to see happen in a tough loss for the Knights.
Tye Merrill – RB, Canistota
Merrill was a fantastic rusher in this game and was the key to victory for his team in Canastota in their romp of a victory over Florence-Henry. He was zipping all over the field with what was with great agility and juke moves that running backs should be wanting to have. Merril in his teams win over FH had a total of 144 rushing yards which accounted for just around 50% of his teams total offensive output and was the lead rusher for his team when they needed him to be. His rushing attack and ground game that he had output allowed the passing game to open and create my lanes of scoring to help his team even more. His blocking and other traits were quite good as well and made his overall performance a pleasure to watch. Not to mention he added on a not too shabby two rushing touchdowns which put the cherry onto this great rushing performance and ran his team to a victory on Friday.
Chase Van Tol Chase Van Tol 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB Tea Area | 2023 State – RB/LB, Tea Area
WOW, I will get this out of the way to start but Van Tol is the Friday Night Player of the Week, and he did everything in this game. To start, he rushed quite well over a defense in O’Gorman who is known to stifle runners in their tracks and make them think twice about where they are going to run. Van Tol had a total of 13 rushes which totaled 116 rushing yards which were in addition to a rushing TD that he had. On the flip side, we saw him play great on defense with him totaling 8 tackles and around 1 TFL for his team. But that performance which is great in its own right is not why Van Tol was the player of the game, for those who were there know but Van Tol and the Tea offense drew up the play of the year to get the sealing blow over OG. In a half-back pitch, Van Tol wound up and hit Ethan McKnelly for an 80-yard half-back pitch pass which gave Tea the lead late in the game. Van Tol showed off the rocket on his arm and made the play of the game to help his team win and it was something that was ripped right out of a movie script. Van Tol is the Friday Night Player of the Week and he earned every bit of that that title with his key play to get his team the win late, and it will be a highlight for him for a long time.
Ryland Satter Ryland Satter 6'3" | 215 lbs | ATH Sioux Falls O'Gorman | 2024 State SD – WR, O’Gorman
Satter much like his quarterback who he was in sync with the entire night, left everything that he could give on the field and what he did was nothing short of spectacular. Satter had accounted for around half of those passing yards that Dannenbring had racked up in that game and it was quite impressive to watch. Satter is quick and can think very well on his feet to adapt along with working around a situation that he is in. He racked up a total of 204 receiving yards with the two touchdowns that he had linked with his QB during the game. He did this on what was just 5 total catches which give his yards per catch average up to a crazy 40.8 yards per catch. Satter did everything in their ability to help his team win and it was just a matter of one of those games of who scored last and unfortunately for the Knights it happened to be Tea on what is the play of the year so far. Yet, do not discredit and recognize the performance that they had put on tonight, some of the best shows of force by players that we have seen so far to start the year.
