Owyhee looks to bounce back after a late comeback against Mountain View that saw the Storm on the wrong side of the winners column. Showing a tough defensive front the defense for the Storm was able to hold the Mavericks scoreless in the second half as the Storm offense led by Matt Irwin Matt Irwin 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Owyhee | 2024 State ID and Gabe Alvarado who came up with a three touchdown week. Eagle played possibly its best game of the year in a loss to Rocky Mountain as it held the states top team to only 17 points. Making a change at quarterback with starter Brett Lijedahl coming in for Jake Longson the Mustangs were able to be a little more balanced against the Grizzly defense. Look for this to have major implications in the 5A River Conference as Eagle looks to push towards the top spot and Owyhee wants to give themselves the best chance at some sort of 3 way tie.
Kuna v Nampa
Kuna is coming off a huge overtime win against Borah last week where it came down to the arm of quarterback Cole Luekenga. After a back and forth game all night it was the senior quarterbacks leadership that helped the Kavemen to beat the Lions in one of the top games from a week ago. The question this week will be whether or not the Kavemen can stop Nampa ground attack? Nampa on the other hand has been a pleasant surprise as 5A newcomers beating Boise last week. Its the ground game that gets Nampa going as they are lead by the legs of Daniel Carrillo and Gabe Navarro. Nampa is making waves this year as they push some of the top teams in all of the SIC.
Homedale v Sandpoint
Homedale has been dominant up to this point behind the Jaxon Dines and Mason Strong Mason Strong 5'11" | 170 lbs | WR Homedale HS | 2023 State ID . Homedale has been lighting up the scoreboard this season averaging over 40 points per game. While the other side of the football is no slouch as well they are holding teams to 7 points per game on the defensive side of the ball. Homedale is a team to watch this year no matter who they are playing or what division they are playing them in. Sandpoint had their game cancelled last week so it was just another opportunity for the Bulldogs to work on themselves as they started the season with two close loses. Parker Pettit Parker Pettit 6'0" | 205 lbs | QB Sandpoint HS | 2023 State ID will look to lead the Bulldogs this week against one of the best teams in the state of Idaho.
Madison v Thunder Ridge
In a battle of 5A teams from Eastern Idaho Madison looks to continue winning after beating Idaho Falls last week as Thunder Ridge looks to bounce back after losing to a powerful Skyline team. Madison has had an up and down start to the season by splitting its first four games as it looks to find some consistency this week against Thunder Ridge. On the other side of the field Thunder Ridge lost to possibly one of the best teams in the state regardless of classification in Skyline before that they won their previous two games. It should be a great battle against two top teams in Eastern Idaho.
Bishop Kelly v Lake City
Bishop Kelly has been nothing short of dominant this season. They are averaging 41 points per game on offense doing it the way Bishop Kelly has always done it behind a solid run game and the arm of really solid QB. Where they might have taken the biggest step is on defense where they are only allowing 2 points per game if you look at their schedule where the one touchdown they have given up this year was in garbage time against Capital. Lake City on the other hand has been in some close games and one big loss, they are still a team to watch out for with some of the best players in the state. Lake City will look to make its mark this season by stopping the juggernaut that is Bishop Kelly and they get to do it on their home field as well.
