The Seahawks won the game with their stout defensive line, shutting down Wade Hampton’s strong rushing attack from the outset thanks to the excellent play of Chris Marable Chris Marable 6'4" | 280 lbs | DL Hilton Head | 2023 State SC , Shaikh Thompson, and Caleb Spangler. Wade Hampton junior running back Zion Dobson Zion Dobson 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Hampton County | 2024 State SC was averaging 113 yards per game coming into this one, but he was held in check to the tune of just 21 yards on 13 carries. Carter Saleeby made a monster impact at linebacker in a key moment in the game, using his physicality to knock the ball loose into the hands of Marable to end what could’ve been a game-tying drive late in the contest. And we saw a brilliant showing from senior defensive back George Apy who displayed his excellent pursuit and strength with two huge open-field stops. Alex Ruckno was critical to his team’s success, flying all over the field to finish off tackles and making a sensational interception late in the first half. It was Troy Timko Troy Timko 5'10" | 200 lbs | RB Hilton Head | 2025 State SC ‘s best game yet at running back, scoring all three Seahawk touchdowns with 109 yards on 19 carries. He’s a high-energy runner with outstanding vision and the strength to fight for every yard. He got some big holes to run through thanks to a dominant showing from Jake Heitman and Thompson May on the line. We saw both Owen Bayes and Jackson Bibee produce under center, exhibiting outstanding leadership and efficiency in orchestrating sustained drives. Both also showed electric abilities on the ground with Bayes leading the way with 78 rushing yards on seven carries.
Chris Terry produced a solid game at quarterback for Wade Hampton, completing 16-of-26 passes for 188 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He showed some explosiveness in the run game and delivered a strike to a wide-open Dobson for the only Red Devil touchdown. If Terry can improve his touch on the deep ball, it could make Wade Hampton’s explosive offense very difficult to defend. Both Nigel Solomon and Mekhi Davis showed some excellent quickness on the outside, racking up yards on screens and evading defenders. And linebacker Mandrell Sanders was a force on the defensive side, using his relentless motor to charge into the backfield and pick up a pair of sacks.
