Let’s get to his and the Eagles’ performance from an eventful 55-23 victory over Bluffton.
We saw something special Friday from a player who never doubted himself. He started out his Beaufort career as a receiver with a spring in his step and a hunger to improve. We just witnessed the culmination of his work in a historic outing on his home field.

erupted for 341 yards and five touchdowns on 30 carries in a dominant performance. He was an unstoppable force with his quick feet and incredible burst from the backfield, using a strong showing from his offensive line to storm through running lanes and fly past the Bobcat defense. Fields carried the hot hand early and never looked back, displaying an unending motor on the field and a winning tenacity to go all in on every carry. He’s unquestionably become the go-to playmaker on a Beaufort offense that is becoming a lethal unit to complement one of the toughest defenses in Class 3A. Lost in Fields’ big day was the improvements of the passing game led by quarterback

down the left sideline for the first of Bonds’ two touchdown passes of the night. The second score was on a beautiful fade to the back of the end zone which Phares reeled in again. Bonds is beginning to improve his touch on his throws and his reads off the snap and can scramble for chunks of yardage at any moment. The offensive line deserves some great praise for opening up lanes for Fields, as Justin Weinberg and Adrian Lamb among others produced all night long. Beaufort’s defense made several key stops early in the game thanks to defensive end Jack Sumner alongside linebacker Will Codding. Carter Bowersox and Phares provided excellent hustle in pass coverage while making some clutch tackles.
There’s still lots to like from Hayden Gregory’s Bobcats, who fought hard on offense to stay within striking distance for much of the second half. Max Vonhohenstraten got going in the latter stages, showing off his deep-ball prowess to explosive wideout Jaylin Linder before connecting with Jaheim Dobson in the final moments. Roderick Buxton impressed in the ground game against a stout Eagle defense. His power and strength to keep his balance through contact should prove to be useful in a challenging region slate. And both Jaquinn Williams Jaquinn Williams 5'11" | 190 lbs | LB Bluffton | 2023 State SC and Jeremiah Curry Jeremiah Curry 6'0" | 205 lbs | LB Bluffton | 2024 State SC showed why they’re one of the most effective linebacker combos in the state, using their physicality and hustle to pursue and finish tackles. The Bobcats will need both on their best game in a rivalry matchup at Hilton Head next week.
