Two touchdowns for the fast running tail back this week against St. Helens. His quickness clearly was something the Lions could not fully handle, as even when there were multiple defenders with hands on him he was able to bust free because of his velocity. Not the biggest of backs–only 5-9 165–but perfect for the Wing-T. A big reason why the Bulldogs are averaging 41.5 points a game currently, third best in 4A, is because of the explosively Beyer brings with him to the football field.
Shaw Stork Shaw Stork 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Henley | 2023 State OR – QB – Henley
Not the greatest of performances for the best quarterback in 4A football, but still worth taking note of. Did not have to throw very often, went 7 of 12 on the day, but Stork was impeccably accurate on the deep ball, throwing a touchdown pass of 85 yards for example, finishing with 194 yards total. The athletic flashes that make Stork an intriguing college prospect were there, regularly having his own number called in the run game to compliment the contributions of running back Logan Whitlock.
Logan Whitlock – RB – Henley
This kid can run. Against a Crater defense that is no pushover, Whitlock regularly gashed the Comets for big yardage, including a 72 yard run in the second quarter where he cut across the field twice. His top-end speed wasn’t enough to finish off the run in the end zone, he got caught at the Crater 21 yard line, but his vision and elusiveness were on full display. Whitlock finished with three touchdowns in Henley’s 35-0 win. It is not hard to imagine, with the performances he has had in the first two weeks, Whitlock ending the season with an all-state selection.
Waylon Riedel Waylon Riedel 5'11" | 230 lbs | LB Estacada | 2023 State OR – RB/LB – Estacada
Wrecking ball Riedel reached the end zone five times Friday night on the road at Scappoose (two touchdowns and three two-point conversions), rushing for 92 yards and picking up 20 yards through the air. Defensively Riedel lived up to the standard, only racking 4.5 tackles but being in position to redirect multiple run plays and play the passing lanes well enough to help limit Scappoose to just 19 points.
